This covered bridge is located in Sergeantville NJ. As you can see just wide enough for traffic going in one direction. FYC

I'm sure this bridge is of some historical interest but without wishing to appear harsh there is little of interest in your photograph unless I suppose one is an aficionado of covered bridges. So different time of day different angle maybe? Grabbed a covered bridge shot from Google images to show what I'm getting at.
Hope your OK with me posting it here.
Pretty sure there is a good image available with a little creative thinking.

Per Linda's suggestion, I am posting an example to the thread. Yay, I did it.

The problem with flipping something like this is the name of the boat appears backward in the flipped version. You have to cut the name out of the original and paste it back into the new version and then adjust it to fit etc. Does need a bit of PP skill to get it looking right.

I am an analyst by nature and in my career. When I have the time I like the challenge of figuring out my settings especially shooting at night. I enjoy the learning process. In this case I had left my tripod at home and needed to keep my ss up but my camera tends to push my ISO too far. It also makes me slow down and consider what and why I am shooting. It's like being in the zone and hyper focused. I also had a suggestion from someone to shoot more in manual to further develop my knowledge and skill.

When things are moving faster I dont mind shooting in the other modes. I fried a few gray cells in my youth and have a problem with short term memory when under a time crunch or pressure. Those are the times I would rather not have to make all the decisions. I sometimes go into some rough parts of town to shoot and as a woman alone it can be dangerous. I like to get my shots and get the heck out. One time I barely made it into my car before a guy got to my door.

So there it is in a nutshell.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your viewpoint. Not sure I will ever agree. Would driving a car built in the 50's develop knowledge and skill of driving?
Anyway each to his or her own. If I pay good bucks for modern technology I believe in making use of it.
Sometimes the best subjects hang out in the bad parts of town but be careful always. As a well traveled guy I have found people often get into trouble simply because they are in places they should not be. Curiosity killed the cat along with a pile of dumb tourists.

Not convinced this needs the moon. It does not look in anyway real. Also as a modern DSLR has more processing and computer power than the early Apollo space rockets I would be interested in your theory behind manual shooting. My camera I have to admit can think and work things out much quicker than me.
And as a hefty chunk of the price of a DSLR is for the technology involved why not make use of it? Curious for your views on this.

If you think its an improvement I'll take you through it step by step. The changes are subtle so you may need to open both images in PS and go Window>Arrange>2 Up Horizontal to display them side by side. My version is resized to 1500 x 1000 pixels and you will need to resize yours to the same to view in this way.

I am very happy you liked it. Please post. I am not yet comfortable enough with Photoshop to understand exactly what you did, but I got the general idea: you boosted contrast a bit and then boosted a bit in the midtones. Correct?

Exactly what tweaks do you think are needed and in which picture(s)? I am not saying this to be obnoxious, but I would like to know.

Hello Peter I added a contrast adjustment layer then a Curves adjustment of a gentle S shape then a Soft Light blend mode at 50% opacity. I will post my result if you wish.
This is all down to personal taste but my version of your excellent shot I would be happy to hang on my wall.

Great idea and well spotted. Its personal taste but I would have liked to see a lighter touch on the sliders to blur and distort the parts you wanted out of focus.
Maybe a Radial Gradient mask leaving the small table in sharp focus and progressively blurring the background towards the edges of the frame. That would help to concentrate the viewers attention on the small table.

Certainly good photographs can be captured at any time of the day dependent upon subject and the skill of the person taking them. If you like the look of your posted shots then go with it. For me they are in need of some quite minor tweaks in PP to bring out the best in them and add the interest that's obviously there.

Proves that nature can have a bad hair day and not look its best. Nice composition all in focus but just a little flat. A small adjustment by taking it back into Camera Raw and then application at low opacity of a blend mode like Soft Light injects a little life into. But to be fair there is not much you can do with a scene like this to make it interesting.

Its one of those that makes me ask what do you do with it now? Its hardly a print and hang effort, not something of interest to show friends and neighbors so does one keep this or just ditch it as its useful life is over. I am a definite ditcher of stuff like this and yep we all take them.
As for the shot its over sharpened and very mundane. Those Romans were a little unadventurous when digging canals it seems. Probably in a hurry to feed a few Christians to some lions and get a good orgy going.

I don't know. What do you think? Different colors maybe?

Your tentative question sort of gives away the fact you do not think its working on any level. Someone in this forum posted something similar a week or so back and it was pretty good. The background was true black, maybe a piece of card behind the seed head, and it was absolutely tack sharp. The Exif data is missing from your post so no idea of lens used but would suggest a macro lens for this type of work. For this subject soft focus will always look like a photo gone wrong.

Not a fan of overprocessing but think with this pic, it works. I have done this with my phone on Snapseed ( I may look at it on my computer later and realize I shouldn’t have posted it lol) as I haven’t had much time to work on photos lately. Second pic is original.

Its cute as you say and Snapseed did a good job. Apps like Snapseed are good as they make picture making within the reach of anyone with a cell or a basic point and shoot. The one click aspect means actually there is no creativity involved and not much thought required. The software does all the work. What comes out is often a surprise be it good or bad. Its fun so enjoy it for what its worth

Could have done without the post in the first one but apart from that I really like it.
The second one sort of matches your title and I assume its the "artist" in you that designed the sky but it has no appeal to me I'm afraid. Would however be interested to know why you left 50% of the frame occupied by a rough surfaced concrete pillar. Obviously it was planned just not sure why. An image full of questions.

See what you can do to make this more interesting.

Are you sure about this Mr Pops??? Well OK then. The food in Mexico is perfectly awful so first of all moved it to 'Nam where the food is just wonderful.
Then sort of added the odd thing and a bit of smoke plus a few grunts.
