Totally worth it! The stabilization alone is worth the switch from Nikon. As to OM1 or OM1 II, look at the features of each, weight, expense. Are you a birder? The II has better tracking, but both are good. I own the Olympus mI III, which I bought at the same time as the OM I. My choice was based on price primarily. The features were similar enough that I didn’t want to spend an additional $1500. As to a lens, it depends on what you shoot, obviously. My go to lens is the 12-100 PRO.

Underwater creatures. If you have an Olympus Tough TG 5, 6 or 7 it’s waterproof to 50 feet.

I had the opportunity to photograph my grandson’s wrestling match. I got permission from the coach and was able to sit on the floor within about 30 feet. It was a very intense experience! I did not use or need a flash. After I did some post processing, I cut a CD with all the images and gave it to the coach. He then shared the images with the team and used some of the images as training aids.Today, it’d be a thumb drive.

I always replace the strap that comes with the camera. Why? A. I don’t want to advertise what I’m shooting with
B. The included strap is too narrow to be comfortable C. It’s ugly (LOL). I don’t go for any additional features.

This is also about OM/Olympus. I had bought a used 40-150 Olympus lens. Turns out its clever lens hood would sometimes fall apart or fall off when in use. I asked an OM rep if I should order 1 or 2 replacement lens hoods as I was headed to Africa and didn’t want to have any issues. His response was to send me a free replacement which worked perfectly.

I went on Safari this past September to Tanzania. We only got out of our truck for lunch. The safari trucks have roofs that raise up so that you can stand on the seats. Skip the monopod, it will be unwieldy and just get in the way. We used the beanbags our safari company provided and they worked perfectly. I think both of your Tamron lenses will be fine. Skip the primes unless you will be visiting villages or in a city — then bring the shorter prime. I did bring my 50 prime but that was because we were also going to Zanzibar after the safari. Otherwise, I didn’t touch it. I didn’t worry about low light as we were usually back in camp by dusk or nightfall. You will be blown away so remember to take some time away from your viewfinder to just appreciate where you are and what you see.

I have a Samsung 2T for an external for my 2023 MacBook Pro. I’m quite happy with it.

I use camera matching in LrC profiles and whichever of the b&w filters works best with my subject.

I just did a book using blurb. You use it right from Lightroom and don’t need to convert from raw to build your book. Blurb offers lots o f page layouts, quality paper, many cover choices. I am very satisfied and working on my next book. I highly recommend it.

I would be very fearful of putting my entire trip on one card. Did a photo safari and budgeted two cards a day.

I have a Peak Design aluminum tripod that I actually like… and I hate tripods!
