I just returned a rented XT4 with 16-80 lens. It has a really nice feel to it. I believe in Murphy's law so I am much more comfortable with two memory cards. All my images were sharper on the XT4 and significantly less noise at higher ISOs. All this is as you would expect as the XT4 is significantly more expensive than an M50. I received a reasonable estimate for my M50 and lenses from KEH so an XT4 is definitely in my future. I suspect my first lens (I'll get the 16-80 in the kit) will be the new 70-300.

Thanks. Trix. That's the exact information I was hoping to get.

I have a Canon FF which is quite heavy. About 2 years ago I bought an M50 for the lighter weight. Do I wait for the rumored M7 and hope Canon does not discontinue the m series, or bite the bullet and get an XT 4? I don't like the M6 II. Is Fuji have broad enough support for the long term or is it a niche camera? Are the Fuji lenses significantly better than the native M lenses? Hope there are some Fuji users to reply to this. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I have the 150-600 G2, Canon mount and really like it. Use mostly for wildlife and grandkids sports. Rarely hand hold due to weight, I'm 73, but it works quite well with mono or tri pod. The attached image was at 600mm on a 7D II using a monopod.

I'm 74 and also was looking for smaller and lighter. Since I have Canon FF, I stayed with Canon and got an M50. Took it to Italy and got some fantastic shots. Kept a Tamron 18-200 on the camera and a Canon 11-22 in my pocket. The lenses are light and small. If you want to go lighter, you must go to either APSC or micro 4/3. The Canon is lacking IBIS. If you have large hands, the M50 might be too small, but I would definitely put the M series on your check it out list.

Being a photography judge is like being a baseball umpire. It doesn't matter what call they make someone will disagree with it. In my camera club competitions and the county fair, I often feel like I've lost with better images than I've won with. Bottom line, it you're happy with your images, what the judges think doesn't matter.

I, too, was in the same boat as you, heavy 5D IV that you love but at age 72 getting heavy. I came to the conclusion that to save weight, you must go to smaller format, due to lens weight, not camera. Didn't want to go smaller than APSC. I chose Canon M 50. Lenses are light, image quality not quite as good as 5D, but so much easier to carry. Took a tour of Italy last fall. Had M 50 with Tamron 18-200 around my neck and Canon 11-22 in my pocket. Got some excellent images. Rarely used the kit 15-45. I'm planning on getting the Canon 32 1.8 soon. Love the M50, light weight, view finder built in, and finally getting more lenses available. Gets grainy at 6400 ISO. Biggest negative, you must carry an extra battery with you. Still use 5D locally, but not for travel. Good luck with your decision.

Just returned from a trip to Italy. Left the 5D at home. Took my M50 with Tamron 18-300 mounted and Canon EFM 11-22 in my pocket. The c raw saves space on the card. Easy to carry and did not miss the weight of the 5D. Very little, is any, drop in IQ on the M50 from the 5D. Biggest draw back is less battery life. Must carry a second battery along. Good luck.

I did South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana several years ago. Took 7DII with Canon 70-300 L lens. There were a few times where slightly more length would have been desirable. Take the 24-70 for evening safaris on the 5D as light fades in the evening. Have a wonder time, it is truly the trip of a lifetime. Probably used the 70-300 for 95% of my shots.

As you stated, mostly Canon equipment in the B&H locker, and it is available on a first come, first served basis so you cannot count on getting the lens you want when you want it. Polarizer is nice and auto white balance was fine. When on the snow, you will want to go +1 on your exposure compensation. The ships photographer will go over all the details. I took my Tamron 150-600 with monopod for onboard for whales and birds.

Pauldh did in fact solve my problem. So thank you Pauldh and everyone else who replied to my problem. I am still going to contact Tamron and see what they say. It's an amazing website when someone in Melbourne can help someone in California in a matter of minutes. Technology is so amazing when it works!!!

I turned off the peripheral illumination and that corrected the problem. Thank you all so much!!! I think I will still contact Tamron about a firmware update.

Nothing in the view finder. Other lens 24-105 OK, this lens fine on 7D ii (crop sensor). It's brand new so maybe I should return it to B&H for another one. No filter or anything on the lens.

These are the first shots with a Tamron SP 45 1.8 on a Canon 5D iv. Does anyone have any idea what is causing the ring? It disappears at 2.8, but is there from 1.8 to 2.8. Same result with a B&W UV filter which was removed for the enclosed photos. I've never gotten anything like this with any other lens. Is lens defective or am I doing something wrong? Same result outside as inside. Thanks in advance for any solutions.

Thank you all for your excellent advice. I obviously have not made up my mind what to do, but you have given me many things to consider, some I hadn't even thought of. That's exactly what I was hoping for.
