Hello my hedgehog family,

I would like some suggestions. I have the trinity 2.8 lens collection and several others to compliment those; however, what I would like to have is a zoom lens that would cover a wider focal distance range from maybe 14 to 150 or longer as a go to walk around lens to keep from having to carry two lenses.

also look at the 18-200 or 18-300 Nikon lenses. my 2 cents. lol

Lot of good memories about the FE & EM Nikons. The lenses I had were a 28mm, 50mm, both E Series. Plus a Tokina (if memory serves me) 70-210mm, & a 2X Nikon teleconverter.

yes good memories. I got the 50m, 36-72m, and a Tokina 2x teleconverter, lol. mine was the EM, my dads was the FE which I now have as inheritance.

Is it any good? I've always been fascinated by tiny zooms. I had a 28-50mm f/3.5 Ai-s. It was really nice to use, and the images it made were very pleasing. Later I tried an AF 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5, which was also tiny, but it wasn't as good.

last time I used it, I remember the pics came out nice. I didn't know back then the details (being a teenager/20's ? ) of apt./shttr spd/iso…. I just took pics thru the manual lenses on my Nikon EM. today is different, lol.

Used Series E Lenses back in the 80’s on both EM & FE. Had no problem getting great photos (slides) with the lenses or cameras.

my dad had the FE which I inherited. he got me the EM when I was young. still have both today.

Ken Rockwell has great info HERE on Nikon lenses (other stuff needs to be taken with some salt)
"All Nikon Series E lenses are also AI-S"

Here is his section on the less-expensive but overlooked E series:

have seen list of lenses available at my local camera store from their online site. they have a number of AI-AIS ?? lenses listed like a 50mm f/1.8, ais manual focus. I have an old E-series 50mm manual focus that's on a FE and EM. whats the difference if any between an e-series and ais lens ? thank you all.

racerrich3, Thanks for your response. You are accurate.

confused. saying that I am accurate on your post, but you are the one that posted it. I know I opened a can of worms on my comment but I am laughing at the responses. I know we are all different in all aspects of life, as I see this in everyday life : driving down the street seeing a dead animal that got run over, a dead bird that fell out of a tree, a dead goldfish that got over fed, etc. just I wouldn't think it would be cool to take a pic of it and post it. and to all that did read my reply I did read the "sensitive" part. didn't bother me. we're all different in all aspects of life so you all to need to get over it. your entitled to your views and replies and so am I ! thank you barn owl.

It is interesting that neither one of the bald eaglets are attempting to eat the squirrel. I suspect an adult eagle will have to assist. https://dickpritchettrealestate.com/eagle-feed.html

SICK for even wanting to show that. the eaglets are smart for not wanting to eat dead squirrel. they can't look at it either.

hi group,

downsizing camera gear that i don't use anymore. here's the thing:

breakthrough photography x4 CP 82 mm-----$125
nikon 52 mm CP ----- $25
tiffen 77 mm UV filter--- $10
nikon mc-dc2 cable release-- $20. (for long exposures)
nikon ml-l3 wireless remote--$20

$150 takes it all. Or i've listed individual prices. the filters will be sent with their original containers to protect them

all are in good shape with little use. i no longer need them because i switched equipment.

Looking for Lens suggestions for a good lens for real estate And landscape photography. Camera is a Nikon D7200. Not interested in Pro level Lenses. It seems to me there are some really good choices based on reviews in the $300-$450 range for wide angle zooms. Interested in what other members use, like and don’t like. Thanks in advance.

I like peoples suggestions of the 10-20 range and Nikon has a 10-20 which has been mentioned. for about $500 ? Nikon has a 10-20 and a 40 macro package. just my 1 cent. or 2 cents since a 2 lens package, lol.

I'm not judging tiffen, but 'official' usually means somebody paid a promotional fee.

So? They possibly paid a fee.

I make a lot of images in the mountains, particularly in Yosemite and the Sierras. In my film days, I found that using a Haze 1A filter was helpful in some situations. Now that I shoot almost entirely digital, and I don't usually use a haze filter, even for "protection." I understand that the 2A filter removes virtually all UV light, but some complain that it also takes some of the purple as well. For a Zeiss Batis 18mm lens, the filters are 77mm, which can be quite expensive. Tiffen makes a 77mm 2A filter. Does anyone have experience with 2A filters, Tiffen or otherwise?

I have lots of Tiffen filters. they ARE good and official filter of NASA so I have heard/read/seen/ whatever.
