Corel's companion to PSP is Aftershot Pro 3. But it's ability to handle files etc. is pretty basic compared to Lightroom.

I used to use PSP because I migrated from the photo editing app in the old Corel Draw. I switched over to LR and then PS + LR a few years after I retired from teaching. I no longer needed Corel Draw to produce materials* for the classroom.

I taught at a HS that was part of a federal program called the Digital High School and we had overhead and other AV equipment but the materials that came with our textbooks sucked. So I took a class and started to do my own posters, charts, over head projection materials, Power Points etc. I and an English teachers were the first at the school to do so but when I retired in 2007 there was at least one teacher in every academic field making their own materials. Somewhere in a box of some of my own stuff I still have his "History of the English Language" disk that I used to show to my history students.

Thanks for your interesting information. I use PSP 2020 since PSP is the only one I have ever used and don't want to invest the time to learn another. I found a bug or problem with PSP 2018 and then purchased PSP 2020 hoping that they had corrected the problem. They had not. After dealing with Corel for quite a while, I gave up and now just live with the quirk. I know how to get around it and just don't get into the problem area anymore.

Thanks. Yes, that appears to be it. I am going to work on it tomorrow.

Add What app are you viewing them in, we can't tell from the image you posted.

No app is used. they are just shown in Explorer. When I open the pictures, I do use Windows Photo generally. To do editing I use Paint Shop Pro 2020, but I don't know how to use PSP to rename the pictures - I have to go back to Explorer to do that.

Did you try clicking the icons?

The names are mostly the same (2006 17 birds) except for the numbers in parentheses, as if they might be groups of burst shots. Or did you name them all the same, with the number in parentheses to differentiate?

Yes I clicked the icons, but that just opened the pictures in Microsoft's Photo which is my default setting. I changed the names as I preferred. The numbers in parentheses are asigned when you change the names of a group in Explorer.

Can anyone explain what these new symbols are? They just appeared on all of my photos regardless of the folder they are in. The only thing I did out of the normal tasks was to start two video programs that I have not used in the past. I have restarted my computer but the symbols remain. I am using Windows 10.

I agree with the above comments on this post, but what you generally see as "stars" are actually primarily galaxies.

Thanks to all of you that commented with such kind comments. The young deer actually got trapped between the gap between my wooden fence and my chain link fence and apparently died during the night. If I had seen him early that morning, I might could have saved him but unfortunately I did not see him untill the afternoon.

I really can appreciate the advantage of the autofocus lenses of today. I can remember the day when all lenses were manual focus as was exposure control. I must be getting old. LOL Enjoy

Isn't that just a Turkey Vulture?

It's bad when you have to drag a dead deer into your yard to get a decent picture of a Turkey Vulture.

I have been using a Corel photo product and have been having problems with it. Contacted Corel got a ticket number and they finally contacted me and told me that due to the age of the software they are not supporting it anymore. We will give you a good deal on a new version of the new updated software program. Program is less than two years old.

Does your problem relate to the one that I had with versions 2018 and 2020? When trying to delete all the pictures in the Quick Menu, it would lock up and crash the program.

I use PSE 2018 for the largest percentage of my post processing. I have PSP 2018 and I use some features on it that work better for certain editing than does PSE 2018. I especially like PSP’s skin smoothing feature. And PSP’s cloning tool has one for linear defects that works well in photo repair/restoration. It also has a larger variety of straightforward tonal adjustments, I think. The one thing I don’t like about PSP is the way the various slider adjustments appear when first opened on a new image - they seem to stay at the position used on the last image loaded rather than a neutral position. I don’t understand that at all.

That is true, but you can reset it to start at "default" to start from scratch. When dealing with a set of pictures, I find it easier to start from the setting of the last image loaded.

It is the only program I ever learned. I use it as required. I found a bug in the 2018 and 2020 versions that Corel were not able to fix. I know how to get around it however. I therefore will not get a later veersion.
