Hammacher Schlemmer has a scanner the works great for slides and negatives Just copied about 1000 slides and a whole book of negatives
I was recently Copying a bunch of slides to digital on my computer and came across some of her cousins wedding from about 40 years ago. My wife was talking to her cousin and mentioned that we found some pictures from her wedding, and all of a sudden her cousin started crying. She said that they had no pictures from the wedding, the photographer that they had hired had gotten drunk and all of the pictures he took where trashed. Since we already had plans to visit them in Florida about a month later, she asked that we bring them with us so we could all look at them together rather than sending the pictures to them.
I had my Nikon D5200 converted with a 590NM internal filter I Can still focus and frame thru the view finder or by live view when I add the 720 filter I must use live view.
You can always check with the photo shop on board, they can and will provide you with hints and suggestions
I always carry 1 16GB card for each day of the trip plus additional cards 1 for each 2 days, I have only one had to change to one of the back-up cards once. I shoot with a Nikon D7100 usually in Both raw + jpeg and can get about 250 pictures per card
I always run the troubleshoot prior to any updates this has eliminated the failure to install problems and a couple of the hangups
Yes a polarizing filter will help, also get the lens as close to the window as you can even touching it
I use a different 16GB card for each day of the trip and also carry a couple of spare cards for occasional time that I fill the card that I started the day with. On a recent 10 day trip I took 15 cards
I recently had my Nikon d5200 converted to infrared with the 590nm filter in the camera this lets me use separate 650 and 720 filters for the different effects. When I use the higher filters on the lens I have to use live-view to compose the shot, but with out the filters on the lens I can use the viewfinder. I find this helpful on sunny days when it is hard to see the live-view.
In Photoshop use the haze removal tool
They never mentioned it. I found the slides when going thru boxes of old slides from the 60's and 70's
About 45 years ago while in Florida for my wife's cousins wedding I took about 100 pictures during the wedding and reception without a flash. Just found the slides an copied them to my computer. On a recent trip to visit them I took a CD with the pictures. I turned out these where the only pictures of their wedding, The photographer the hired got drunk and none of the pictures he took where usable. They where overjoyed to finally have some pictures of their big day.
Get either a D7100 or D7200 and have your current camera converted to IR. I got the D7100 and am having fun with my converted D5200. I chose the 590NM internal filter so that i have the versatility to add the darker ones on the lens to get the various results.
On the nikon 16-85 lens there is the ability to fine tune the focus after the auto focus completes, this is great for birds and insects on plants to isolate onto the bird or insect
On my D7100 I use either the Nikon55-300 of Tamron 200-500 depending on the range I expect my subject to be at mostly wildlife and birds
