Those of you who think it's not a bobcat, look at the fur on his "jowls". Also, his face is like a bobcat, not one of those hybrids between an African wild cat and a domestic kitty. Also, if you look closely at the first picture, you can see that his tail is shorter than what would be normal for a domestic cat.

In Montana, you have to have a license or permit to have a bobcat.

eta: If you look carefully at the second picture, you can see the black tip of his tail.

Everyone enjoyed the photos of the Mr. Bobcat sunning himself on my jacuzzi. I have additional photos as he exited our property over the wall to Ashbrook Wash two houses down. The washes in Arizona are the highways thru residential areas that wild animals travel to look for food. Being said I have a lot of wild life coming and going over my wall. I always keep my camera close by when I walk out the door to the pool, jacuzzi or just to have lunch on the patio.

Thanks for all the comments. Yes it is a real Arizona Bobcat. He has been around our yard for a few year now. I raise Ring Neck Doves up to the time I found this Bobcat trying to get in my large outdoor bird inclosure for a free lunch. Scared the s==t out of me. I came around the corner by the side of the house and found the Mr. Bobcat sitting on top of the cage trying to get the top loose. We were face to face four feet away. I don't know if he was more startled or me. I jumped back and grabbed the garden hose. He jump up on 5' foot wall and gave me a nasty look after his shower. Then jumped down in the yard next door. With in half hour he was back looking for a free meal. I released my Ring Neck Doves shortly after, because I new he wasn't going to give up. The Ring Neck Doves are doing much better up high in the trees away from Mr. Bobcat. Will post some photos of the Ring Neck Doves.

I just order the 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens for my Nikon D5500 Camera. I will let you know how I like it. Anyone else using this lens with there Nikon camera? Pro - Cons. I have the 55-200mm already. Just needed something for taking pictures of my grandsons basketball and football games from the bleachers. Will this lens do the job?

Ken, Thank You for your reply. You said you use a monopod. I"m look to purchase one, but want one that is well made that I can use in the grandstands. Have you got any pros or cons on a brand that would do the job.

I happy you added the setting you use when taking sports pictures. My first try will be at night at football games under the lights. Have you ever used the sports setting on the Nikon camera for this, where it takes 5 photo per second?

I received my 55-300mm Nikon lens yesterday, and I do notice the differnce in weight in just handling the camera and lens. I will give it a few shots today and see how it checks out.

I'm the new guy on the block with the Nikon D5500 camera. Still learning, that is why a bought the book for dummies for this camera. I check the book what they had to say. The Nikon D5500 has a touch screen so you can select from 39 to 11 focus points. They say when using the 11 focus points, it uses cross sensors. This feature is better for dim lighting to get the focus point. "Still Learning"

Are you talking about 8mm film recording to digital? That was done after a month. Did one filming once a night shooting off the original screen and the Nikon camera on a tripod. You can record up to about 400 feet of film in half hour on this camera in HD digital format. Took a bit to get to right distance and focus correct. That is why a bought the camera. It would of cost that much to do that much film to send it out to have it recorded to digital. I get the Nikon D5500 camera for the labor. Would like to post a film clip, but I don't know if you can upload video anywhere?

Hello everyone, my name is Charles L. Eral, I grew up in the land of 10,000 Lakes of Minnesota where we raised three children over the first 50 years we lived in central Minnesota. We now live in the "Valley of the Sun" Fountain Hills, Arizona for these last 27 years. Except for my 4 years in United States Coast Guard in the early 60's.

I first became interested in photography when I was in the Coast Guard. I was stationed in places where people dream about going and visiting. I took a lot of photos of Coast Guard Stations, Ships, and Light Houses. From Cape May, NJ to the Great Lakes of Superior and Michigan. Some of the places I was stationed were Duluth Lifeboat Station, Splitrock Lighthouse, Ashland Breakwater Lighthouse, Bayfield Lifeboat Station on Lake Superior. Also was on the Coast Guard Cutter Mesquite out of Sturgeon Bay on Lake Michigan. My only camera during this time was a 35mm Petri. It took great pictures for its time.

I'm currently purchased a Nikon D5500, which came with DX AF-S 18-55mm lens. I purchased the camera first for its video capabilities. I needed a camera that would do a great job of recording old 8mm movie film of my father-in-laws when he sailed the Great Lakes for the Columbia Transportation Division. Everyone remember the Edmund Fitzgerald. He retired one year to the dated this great ship went down with all hands on board. I have now recorded 18 reels of 400 feet of his film of the Steamers, Ewing, Buckeye, C.G. Post, O.S. Mc Farland, and Edmund Fitzgerald. All now preserved for future generations.

I really a novice while using this camera. I purchased the Nikon D5500 Dummies book to help learn the pros and cons of this camera.
Sense then I purchased the Nikon 55-200mm DX AF-S ED Lens for getting up-close and personnel. All my photos were taking with auto setting "what you get is what you see" Like I say I'm a novice, so I'm just trying to capture that place in time. Any pointers will be very appreciated with this Nikon D5500 camera. I'm 77 years old and still willing to learn.

Thank You for viewing my work, and I look forward to the interaction with members.
