After opening and working on a RAW file, what do you save it as, certainly not a jpeg...

I find it best to archive the RAW files. What I save after PP depends on what I want to do
with to finished pic
If it is to print, I save as a TIFF (Canon PRO-100).
To post as JPG.

History buffs may want to Google Fort Omaha, and
General Creek. Quite an interesting history.

DX does not give you more reach, just a smaller field of view.
Personally, I do not like changing lens in the field.
Some do not agree with the use of zoom lens, but I like them.
I carry an 18-300 on me D500.

Taken at the SAC museum. Another interesting place
to visit in the area. Wish I could've spent longer.

This was taken recently at a reunion using a D500,
ISO 2000, P mode, Nikkor 18-300, in a well lit room.
Check the EXIF for specifics.
If hiring a pro is out of the question, at least try to visit
to see what you are looking at for light. Plan on using a flash.

This is in the downtown area of Omaha.
Don't remember the name for this display, but it is dedicated
to the people of the westward expansion. They are great and
very life like castings. Well worth seeing if you are in the area.

A lucky shot, JR. I often shoot out the window of a car and am amazed at the sharp images I get. It's worth taking a chance.

Thanks for the look.

Don't know if I can be of any help here, but here goes:
I upload from my D500 using Nikon software. Any post work
is saved as a TIFF file.
I have made acceptable 12"x18" prints (at least to me ) from as
little as 15% of the original using the finished TIFF With a Canon PRO-100
using the Canon software, usually with Red River Paper.
Hope this helps.

The type of tripod will depend on what your subject matter is.
I use an INDURO mod CLT203PHQ1 that clamps to the foot of
my 200-500. Most of my work is static. If your subject moves a
lot you may look at a different head such as BALL.
