, I have the time and make the effort to read a fairly large variety of Op-Ed columns. I value the intellectual abilities of Krauthammer, George Will, sometimes even Cal Thomas. I usually prefer and agree with Paul Krugman, Trudy Rubin, and other liberals. My point is that staying inside any party's Media Bubble makes one susceptible to becoming an uninformed voter. The Founders' insistence on freedom of the press was not accidentally inserted as part of Article One in the Constitution. A healthy amount of scepticism of the government, media, and those chasing power is part of my definition of American "exceptionalism. Now, who believes that vote-by-mail (in Ohio, we have motly electronic voteing machines, and we've seen problems in the past with state-contracted Diebolt Mfg., concerning performance of these machines), automatic registration connected with Dept. of Motor Vehicles, and change national voter day to an early Sunday in November would positively affect voter turnout? I apologize for seeming long-winded.
I think your images are just stunning! Being a displaced UP'r, I was so moved by these photos that I immediately dug out a copy of Hemingway's "Big River", a short story about his experience fly-fishing in the UP. Thanx for posting.
Has any UHHer heard of a fixed release date for this P&S, or Bridge camera? Have I missed the date or is it still delayed?
It certainly is a beautiful set to view; however, the nest certainly looks like a typical Oriole nest to me. Sibley's bird guide appears to agree with the Altimira ID.
I'll toss in the Canon G3X for consideration by the OP. The drawbacks are shorter range (up to 600mm.), and does not come with elec. viewfinder, though one is available as an option for around 200 bucks. Also, the price is steeper than P900 price. One does gain the option of shooting in RAW and JPEG, so that might matter to some in PP. It also has a larger sensor than P900, which should help IQ at longer ranges. I like both bridges, but it's "whatever floats your boat"
I'm in awe of your technique and the wildflower images; as a fellow UP'er (orig. Iron Mt.), I think I'll relax, have a pastie, and look forward to more of your posts!

Good shot, Mark! He/she looks somewhat bedraggled!
I really like the shot, just don't call him Scruffy!

Thank You
That is a stunning set! Very rare bird in Ohio, more luck spotting them in southern Ohio. Not on my lifelist, so I really enjoyed your photos.
I'm with the majority on this one. Now, to capture a yellow-crowned would be really a treat. Your photo is inspiring!
Thanx for your responses. Yes, insman1132, I would like the longer range on the Nikon,
, but I guess I'm skeptical about both bridges at extremes of their ranges. I'm older and hiking a bit, so my idea was I might prefer the lighter G3 X, and the larger sensor might give better IQ. I'm also convinced I might appreciate RAW capbility for PP.I'm a novice, so I'm open to persuasion. The cost of the G3 X is a turn-ff, and having to put out even a couple hundred more for EVF seems to wrong.
Thanks to all for the various responses, especially GENorkus for the advice on PP. I am amazed daily by the levels of expertise on UHH!
I am in awe of your photos and look forward to the rest. Are the people overtly friendly to Westerners, as I've read?
As a novice, whose main interest is in purchasing a bridge camera for wildlife shots, I am debating the choice of P900 or G3 X (+ purchase of EVF) I'm aware of the range difference and the price difference. The ability of G3 X to shoot in RAW doen't really enhance or deter my choice, as I have no PP experience. Any opinions or advice is appreciated, especially from G3 X users, as I've only seen comments on the Hog about P900.
Very nicely shot BIF's. #2 looks to me like a Caspian Tern, a very talented fisher and one of my favorites. Nice work!
