Went down to the park on break and caught a break! Sun was at my back and the Osprey cooperated. For best IQ please checkout the download. Bob

Thanks Bob. I struggle when trying to shoot the moon, and will use your settings as a starting point next time I have the opportunity.

Things are rig dependent so these setting work for me on my rig but may be a good starting point for you. As always I try to shoot at the lowest possible iso. The f stop depends on the lens. Most lenses are sharpest stopped down a couple of stops. So if wide open is f5.6 them f11 is probably sharpest as it proves to be with my Sigma. I handhold almost everything but the OS on the lens works well so 1/100th is doable even at 500mm. Bob

Thank you everyone!

Micheal, I used my Sigma 150-500mm at 500mm, f10, 1/100s, ISO100

Nice job! I had a similar experience a couple days ago. Ended up in my makeshift green house with my macro rig and a similar fly capture. :) Bob

Good job of the old fashioned way.
Preset everything and wait for the bird to be there.
Worked in the pre auto focus days, still works.

Thanks Robert! Didn't think of it like that- old school, but yeah I basically didn't have AF to rely on. :) Bob

Bob, preparation is better than 50% of the task. You did well knowing your subject and being prepared to react. Very good set.

Usually don't even bother trying to catch a bif with my snail autofocusing Nikon P510 superzoom. Today I waited and knowing when the bird is getting restless prefocusing and waited. Bam, got em! Not DSLR quality but close... Check the DL -not too bad considering. Bob
