Definitely. Aside from boredom, why would they stop a truck driver who was walking to his truck?

The only answer I have for that is: because they could
Some people really trip out on power. Too bad they don't do a better job of screening that at the police academies.

I think the cops should have been reprimanded or fired for abuse of power. This should and may have been vigorously pursued because cops necessarily have a lot of power over the public, so abusing that power should not be tolerated.

On the other hand $1/2 a mil seems a giant rip off to the hard working tax payers that government sucks up their hard earned money. Perhaps if the guy had a $4 million worth of perishable goods go bad while he was in custody, OK, but 1/2 mil is a hell of a lot of money in my neighborhood. Our judicial system really, really sucks, and obscene awards like this is one aspect that needs fixed, assuming a lot of the story was not told.

Possibly, because the settlement was so high, the higher echelon in the police department came down hard on these cops and sent them to re-education camp just to make a point. If it had been a small amount of money perhaps nothing much would have been done in house about police attitudes. We've all run across policemen who really shouldn't be in that job. Fortunately, the good ones far outweigh the obnoxious ones.

Kinda reminds me of a late sixties Mustang fastback from the windshield back.

I see. So the assumption is that AOL sees duplicate cookies and refuses the 2nd login. I’ll be interested to know if using a 2nd browser fixes the issue. My question would be if the AOL cookies contain information on the browser used in addition to the computer and user identification and browsing history, etc. and I don’t know the answer. Please let us know the outcome.

Well, I tried opening up the Internet Explorer that was already on my computer, however, that didn't work out too well as it would not show pictures nor did it have audio and some of the websites required authenticity with illustrations or an audio, but neither would play on Internet Explorer. So, I downloaded Edge and after fiddling around with that I gave up as they had some requirements for opening an account that just wasn't working for me, so I shut it down. I noticed that it was on my desktop so I clicked on it a few minutes later and, voila, it opened and worked just great. So, I've been able to get those finicky sites updated that required both AOL accounts to be opened at the same time. Thank you all for your input and suggestions.

Thank you! I'm a Trekkie from a waaaaaay baaaack, and love any of the Star Trek series and spinoffs.

Good to know, thank you. Just when you figure you are too old to learn anything new, life throws a tech curve at you to wake up the grey matter.

Thank you, Linda. I do have Internet Explorer in my Programs, however, I've never used it, so I guess I'll fire it up and see what happens. I will do as you suggest. It isn't something I need forever, just until I can get these websites that have that double security requirement straightened out.

Unless I’m misunderstanding you, it sounds as if email accounts and browsers are being confused. If you need a 2nd email, why not open a free GMail account? You can access your existing email or the GMail account from the same browser (the one that you already have). The browser is just you portal to the internet and has nothing to do with your email account(s)

It all has to do with cookies. I've already set up the second AOL account as I find AOL more user friendly for me than other email accounts. The problem really lies with some of these websites that send a security number to one account and you have to go to the other account to verify it and if you can't keep both AOL accounts open at the same time, you can't verify the security of the other. Very confusing, you'd have to be here. If I'd opened an account with gmail I'd not have this problem as I could have opened up a gmail account in the same browser as the cookies are different.

Recently, I found out that my email had been hacked. So, I immediately began the gargantuan task of changing not only to a new email address, but changing passwords & adding the new address to umpteen online accounts. However, some accounts I can't change to the new email without utilizing BOTH accounts at the same time, as the websites send security numbers to one address that I have to use in the other address and AOL will not let me open 2 AOL accounts at the same time. Apparently, I have to utilize another browser to do that. I presently use Firefox and have to download another one that I would use only as a secondary browser. Has anyone here done that and how do I make sure the new browser is not the default browser? I was thinking about Microsoft Edge as it is less power hungry than Chrome from what I've read. I am presently running Windows 7 Pro and REALLY don't want to update to Windows 10 as I have programs I use a lot that will not run in Win 10. Thank you

One of my favorite flowers. I had a few plants and they managed to spread themselves everywhere, so I had them coming up and blooming every summer despite the fact that the are biennials.

I've had FIOS for a couple years now and never once have I seen, Please Wait, or have had any problems with delays. Getting through to tech support isn't much of an issue, but understanding them is at times.

I don't know what part of the country you folks are in, but I've NEVER had an easy time getting to speak to tech support as the questions that the robot operator asks NEVER correspond to my problem, so it just goes into this endless loop until I get fed up and hit the Operator button on my phone about 20 times in 2.5 seconds. The robot doesn't even give you a choice of speaking to a Representative. I was complaining to the Verizon installer about it and apparently if they have a tech question they end up going through the same dog and pony show. They DO call back if you are put on hold for any length of time.

Verizon just changed all my receiver boxes to the newer ones, plus installing a new Verizon router. My internet service is faster, however, on my TV I've been having a problem with viewing the program guide. It seems to lag at times between the time I push the advance button to when it actually advances, and it will advance to a few days out and on every channel that shows it will say: Please Wait. So, I wait, and I wait, and I wait. Sometimes it will only take 10-20 seconds before it loads with program choices, but most of the time it just stays on Please Wait. Have any of you had this problem with Verizon TV? I have all Smart TVs and it does this on all of them. The old receivers worked far better. No lag and the only time I ever saw Please Wait was when I came to the end of the two or so weeks that had programs scheduled. I figured I check with UHH first to see if someone else has had this problem and had a resolution, before I called Verizon as trying to get through to their technical help is sooooooooooooo frustrating.

I have the Verizon "bundle" and my Verizon receiver has not been working all that well lately, so after much haranguing (4 hours worth!) Verizon decided to send me 3 new boxes for my TVs. The old ones are 7 years old and I found out they were old style at the time they were installed. I've been told that the new boxes probably won't work with my 7 year old router that was Verizon approved at the time. From experience have any of you out there installed the newer Verizon receivers yourself and is there a problem with getting them to interface automatically with your router? I've been looking into Verizon compatible routers and the best one I've come up with for my budget is the ASUS RT-AX3000. I'm really, really disappointed in Verizon as the problem is with the receivers that I pay for every single month on my bill, yet the wouldn't send a tech person out to change out their faulty receiver boxes for no service charge. I am beginning to understand why so many people get fed up with dealing with cable companies and are chucking cable and using antennas and internet down steaming. Companies like Verizon and Xfinity really shoot themselves in the foot with their outrageous charges and extremely poor service. I'd thought about going to Xfinity, but after talking to others who use Comcast, they're apparently no better than Verizon.

I'd like to thank you all for your varied comments on my DVD player conundrum. I will definitely check to see what Amazon may have on sale for Prime Day. COSTCO and BJ's really didn't have anything I wanted. I'm a big believer in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) so, the less expensive choices seem to be the way I'll go.
