Very artistic approach, I think the black background makes it very dramatic.

Here's my attempt!

Hi Guys and Gals
This is a shot of a bearded Iris that my wife's mother gave us several years ago.

All RAW images require sharpening prior to export. The jpeg format usually gives you multiple choices for how an image will look:vivid, normal, daylight, cloudy, tungsten, etc. You can apply any of these to the RAW data to get the result you desire- that is how the jpeg images were created. However, if you set the wrong White Balance in jpeg it will be difficult to recreate a normal image, as some of the color data was discarded after the jpeg was created. When you shoot in jpeg you shoot a RAW file with predetermined jpeg instructions included.

This I did not know until another user Rongnongno pointed it out after, I complained that my Images seemed too soft. I was shooting in raw and basically doing no adjustment or very little and then converting to JPG and noticing that the images looked way better on screen in Raw.

I am learning! Thank You! Thank You! Rongnongno

For those of you that didn't see anything in the first image(#137) I have cropped and enlarged the image. I have spent way too much time looking at this trying to understand what is going on here.

Is it random noise, a star field, or just let me know what you think?

look at the moon, the bad one has higher contrast, possibly sharpening.
Both are missing in the good shot

Just for clarification which image are you calling bad the first image (#137) or the last posted (#136)?
I did not intervene in the pp. It was all the same automatic settings.

Is the abnormality present in the non-processed image?

I Looked at the image #136 in the series and found this? The first image posted was #137. At first glance there doesn't seem to be any dots in the image like the first image. I clicked on download and could not see what I saw in the first download from Image 137. I clicked on the plus sign and there are small dots there too but way more faint, way fewer and spread farther apart. I missed them the first time.

What do you think UHH'ers?

Great Question!
I looked at the raw file in Capture ND and didn't see any abnormalities. l looked at the raw file in Microsoft Photos no abnormalities. It does seem to be processing related. It's clear that processing generated the abnormalities. Why it's not in the other images is the question now. I am puzzled that it's not in the other processed moonshots or is it?

I do not believe that to be a star field. Too uniform in size & distribution.

I called it an abnormality. I want other that may have seen the same thing chime in. I was surprised on my IPhone 6 when I
clicked the download and gestured to expand the image. It's not uniform in size and distribution.(Try it, if you have an IPhone 6 cell phone).

i agree with you, which brings to mind: what processes were performed?

I processed it with PSE 14 using the Raw files converted to JPG's with the Process Multiple File option. It has, amongst the controls, check boxes for quick fixes( auto levels, auto contrast, auto color, sharpen). I had about 100 moon shots amongst
other files. Like I said in my introduction only one out of a 100 moon shots came out like this one. I described it as abnormality. Every other moon shot came out with a black background like I expected. I will like for others that have seen this chime in with their thoughts.

You're welcome. If there are any images that you think you might need advice on you could post them in the Post Processing section. If you mention what your concerns or problems are, you should get lots of specific advice and examples of what's being discussed. If you do decide to post any images there, don't forget to enable Download by checking the Store Original box, and post as large a file as possible (preferably raw, but anything bigger than about 22MB will be over the UHH upload limit and won't get sent. Links to files in somewhere like Dropbox are OK though).

Another cold, cloudy day here in the Coeur d' Alene, north Idaho area, when I took this Bald Eagle
photo on top of a tree at Higgins Point on the N.E. corner of Lake Coeur d' Alene where the eagles
hang out feasting on our spawning salmon.

I used 800mm. Distance was about 125 feet. Hand held shot. Please use the download.
