Sounds like you got a great deal. The 13 I'm looking at is on sale at my local Costco for $1000 and, if I get an external monitor for home use, the extra size, weight and cost of the 15 doesn't make sense for me. Question: how did you connect your monitor? The 13 does not have a video out port so you have to connect from the USB-C (thunderbolt) to HDMI input on the monitor. I'm wondering how well that works.

My son purchased the Dell XPS 13 top of the line about a month ago. He got it for business school but is a gamer, so he got the one with all the bells and whistles. He has no problem with any of the games he plays. He hooks it up to his 4K TV with an hdmi adapter. I think the adapter cost $20. He doesn't do much with photo editing, but his girlfriend put her lightroom on it and said there is no problem editing photos. The only downside to this was the lack of regular USB ports, which you can get adapters for, if needed. Also the battery life is not the greatest. He has an external battery pack that he uses when the regular battery gets low. With using the external pack, he can go all day at college without any issues. I've asked if he's regretted his purchase because of the different ports and so far, he is happy with what he got.

I have Kodak and Duracell rechargeable batteries. The Duracell last a little longer but not much. We have 3 sets for when nieces or nephews come over. They can go all day with them by switching them out. A little pricey at first but not when compared to buying them over and over.

OK. I don't have any experience with shooting a wedding. I do, however, have the experience of having my photos done by an amateur relative. We had a very inexpensive wedding. To us, it was more about our vows to each other, than having a showy, expensive wedding and reception. That and we were young, had a small savings, and did not want to put the burden on our parents.

Anyways, my Aunt offered to take the photos. We had all the regular family/wedding party photos done inside the church after the ceremony. We were lucky because there had just been adjustable lights put in the floor and two large spotlights. (the church put on many plays and youth programs) While it wasn't perfect, it served its purpose for us.

Before hand, she took pics of the wedding party getting ready. They were mostly candid but some were posed. The reception hall had a beautiful lawn with a few trees that gave us a nice background for a few husband and wife poses. She took the cake cutting, 1st dance photos, and a few more, but most of the reception photos were done by the guests, with disposable point and shoot cameras.

She developed all the photos and put together a beautiful album. A few were made into 8x10s. Not professionally done in any way but I loved everyone of them. Sure, I didn't have all the posed photos that you see now days, but I was OK with that. The memory of my Aunt doing them means so much to me.

My advice is to ask what poses or special photos are a must have and focus on those. Ask guests to send any photos they take, to you, for editing. I would also just set up a video recorder to capture the entire ceremony and have a friend take any photos of the ceremony (we were not allowed photos during mine) This way, you can enjoy the ceremony, as any grandmother should. Just make sure you speak to the bride also. Communication is the key.

Good luck!

Good morning everyone. I was wondering what is the best website to upload your photos for viewing? I am taking some pictures of a retirement party and I would like to upload these photos for the guest to view. Thanks in advance

I use Google photos. You can put the photos in an album and share it. You can make it so anyone can view it or limit who can see it.

Nice shot and give that niece a camera

She has asked for one for her birthday. She's already planning day trips for us.

25 Years ago I did the floor in the main room of a recording studio in OSB with many coats of floor Polyurethane over it. Most people loved it, and it was very cost effective, Cheap!

My husband made a table for someone using this. I was skeptical, at first, but it turned out beautifully. He has made 3 more since then.

Thanks. I find that kids often see what I miss.

I took this a month or so ago, on a walk with my neice. Out of the blue, she asked if I felt like I was being watched. I was confused, until she pointed out the 'eye' that was looking at us.

Yeah, I had one about 5 years ago. You definitely need a small memory card.

My wife currently has a D3200. Its a good camera but I would like to upgrade her to a better one. I want her to stay with a cropped sensor and would like to get one with 2 card slots/tilt screen and maybe a touch screen. I was thinking maybe the D5300 or D7100.

Any Ideas?

What does she want? Take her to a camera shop and let her check them out.

I use Google photos because I use a tablet and it allows me to pull up what I need in seconds. I do pay for additional storage, though because I store my photos at original size verses googles high quality.

I have had some photos dissappear a couple of years ago. They were there and then they were gone. I don't know what the deal was, but it only happened once. Every now and then, it gets glitchy and mixes up their locations but restarting usually takes care of it. It can also take a while actually up loading them if you have a lot. I still back up my favorites onto a hard drive and keep copies on memory cards too, just in case.

My father-in-law has always hated to get rid of anything. As a result, he has what I call junk, in piles throughout his 70+ acres of land. Taking a walk out back has given me many photo opportunities. Yesterday, nestled in a pile of moss covered cinder blocks, I found a jar that had a little life left in it.
