I have found that the area is so vast that I do a lot of focus stacking. A tripod is a must for this and early and evening sessions. You are outside so the light is “always” good. I am surprised how often I use my tripod or monopod while shooting. I guess I need a crutch. The telephoto lenses seem to exaggerate movements. Just my thoughts. I just got back from GTNP and Yellowstone a week ago. Going back next week. I am lucky I don’t have to fly. Have fun and drive slow and enjoy the scenery. Check my Instagram obradallen for images.
Like many people have told you buy or rent the 70-200. It is a dream lens and can be used for wedding, reception, engagement, portraits, sports, just about anything. It will quickly become your go to lens that stays on your camera. The bokeh it provides will convince you to purchase it if you rent it. Have fun and don’t stress the event. If one image doesn’t work out the way you want change your settings. What’s the saying “pixels are free.”
Mr. Perry had the correct response. Set your VR lens to setting #2 Panning setting, then slow down shutter speed to 1/30, follow subject the exact speed they are moving. Take a burst of photos. If the background is not blurry enough slow down shutter speed. You might get one decent one in your burst. By the way, I can’t do it. I have only had one good panning shot ever. It was of a bride walking slowly years ago. I gave that up. Maybe I’ll make it my summer goal to get one more. It will take all summer. Like Steve said it takes a lot of practice. Have fun trying!
This is a stunning thought provoking photo. You might want to desaturate the pink shoes a bit but not really necessary. Love it.

I like Peak Design products. There backpacks are great. I don’t have the newest ones but the Explorer (I think that’s the name) has followed me along with many assignments and many air miles.
The other day I was in my house, the cell phone rang. Caller ID on my cell phone said it was my own home calling me. I was home alone. I had to block my own home phone number for three days. I then unblocked it. Two days later the same thing happened, it is still blocked. Someone really needed to do something about the call spoofing.
I’m heading to Hawaii this spring. I’m taking my Sony 6500 with a 18-105 and a GoPro. That’s what I’ll use, have fun shopping.
I’m not into this creative work but it is probably one of the best photos I have observed. Congratulations.

Look seriously at Vortex Viper 10X 42. You won’t be disappointed.
Camera: Sony a9, a7lll if you don’t want a full frame then 6500.
Lens: Football and outside sports Sony 70-200 2.8 and Sony 100-400.
Indoor sports Sony 70-200 2.8, Sony 24-70 2.8, and my favorite Sony 85 1.4
I do not use the 1.4 teleconverter but many people do with good success.
This is what I use and they work great.
If you choose these things you just spent a lot of money!

Listen to Steve Perry’s video on use of a polarizer for cutting glare. It is very informative.
I think the polarizing filter will cut about 2 stops of light and help with the glare on the helmets. It wouldn’t hurt to try it out. I often use it on a bright day. Just a thought.
Fast shutter 4000, low ISO 100, and Circular Polarizing filter. That’s what I would try. Have fun. Brad
Yes, sorry. I also own the Sony 70-200 2.8 and Sony 100-400 both G master lens. I’ll be honest the 18-105 is not in that league however it is a very good lens that I use for my grandchildren and all of their activities. If it passes that test it must be pretty darn good.
