During the day I'd shoot 250 or less, night time, much slower. 60 or less.

Boy look at the noise in there. What about the lens spots, is that on your sensor. It's perfect. It's time remembered.
I can't believe we complain about noise in digital. It's just not the same.
Your camera doesn't know how old you are.

I'm new to the world of DSLRs and still waiting for my Canon T4i to arrive. I purchased it with the Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS Type II and EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 lenses. My first love is wildlife photography, but love taking close-ups of flowers, insects, photos of sunsets/rises, and photos of fishing. The biggest challenge I have is taking photos in low light situations as I usually take photos in the evening while walking along a river.

My question is: What lenses to you recommend for this type of photography? I'm thinking that I need a decent macro, wind-angle, telephoto, and general purpose lens.

Thanks!

George

Both will work for now until you buy some other gear.
A tripod is with useful. Read some of the post that are here.
Still ask question, because the info might be here already and someone can direct you, as already has been done.

If you go off auto and go manual and not sure what to do. Start with shutter priority, set different speeds of shutter to see what happens.
This will give you a idea about one setting that the camera has. little steps. then comeback with other questions.

What if your camera company went belly up?
What would you do?
You must say what you own for gear, and who you'd choose if you needed new gear.
If you own multiple gear, give multiple scenarios.
Choose to discuss, or not. It might be more than you can handle.

I own Sony. If I had to choose? Nikon.
Why? Never tried Nikon, except in the store. Felt right.

The worst thing about this question some just won't answer. To admit to the other side would blasphemy.

Some wouldn't answer to admit that they might buy something less than top 2 dogs. It breaks there mind and integrity. Which is not the Question.

We only wish, we knew what's really going on, because we think by showing that things are changing, that somebody will be able to do something about it, or can.
The knowledge to understand what happening is great. Assuming that one thing, is the reason is bad science.

Need more than 100 years accurate measurement to convince me.
Now given that facts. Let see the real reason of global warming.
Could it be the real reason for global warming, natural or man made? Is it really gas that's doing it or sucking all the oil out of the Earth.
Check out the reason why there oil in the Earth, then you'll understand what I mean. They tell you oil forms because the Earth cooled. The Earth cooled because of the oil. Suck out the oil the Earth gets hotter. Gases are just part of it.

"In the Bible they talk about the lake of fire. I'm going to assume for this speech they meant Lava."

Telling you the reason is gas build up, is so they'll keep drilling it (oil). If they tell you the real reason then we the people of Earth might say stop( drilling oil ). Your going to kill us all.
Conspiracy I'd say. For a man that lives only a 100 years what does he care of the world dies after he does.

Will the Earth explode, not sure. Erupt yes! and that will seem to those closest, the Earth just blew up.
Foretelling the future is nothing new, and dismissed to much these days and then is over blown in other aspects of daily life. Go figure! And get our Figures right, by god the world depending on it.

I asked a question who that person was referring too and got no answer from the person who said something that was related to what I said, even though they responded to another post. Must be so full blind ambition that they haven't the brain to answer.

I think the question should be if you lost your camera company who would you switch too! Can there be any peace? No peace, said the alien, to the human beings.

If you forget your ear plugs, you will never make that mistake again. My first shot was at the finish line. Panned my camera and only got a blurry race track, no top fueler. Second shot, caught the back end at the edge of the frame. At 235 mph, you will learn to make adjustments to your panning technique. Have fun.

lol... I'm afraid everything will happen so fast I'll never catch it...

Find a place near the start. That's where most likely you get a nice shot. Then go to the finish line for a few at the line shots. If you know how loud a jet is? How about 2 jets.
If you are 50 feet or so from these car. I believe there are I want to say ten times louder, but I say at least 50% louder than a jet. The vibration is so intense you will feel it.
Then it's over just like that. Next.

Fast shutter and fast camera take off any image stabilizer. The vibration from the cars might give it hell. My two cents which is $5 now.

Thanks nivek340 here I was thinking that the image stabilizer was a good thing...

Try it, but I think there might a lot more vibration. Have you been to this kind of drag racing event?

I would probably stay with the company I have supported. It was Minolta, but that was because when I bought into Minolta it was the mind of Minolta back in the early 90's now I have Sony A77 and A55. At the same time I bought my 3xi from Minolta I bought a Canon rebel S. I liked both cameras and still have both film cameras, but I would grab the Minolta, because I like the image I got from the camera. They where both entry level camera, but the Minolta was what I liked, simple and the look was what I wanted. I can't say that I would not try another brand.
Sony is what I got now and as long as they still make a decent camera in the future I'll probably stay with them.
The trouble is I've been hearing Paul Simon lately. His song kodachrome. With a Nikon camera being used as part of the words to the song. I got Nikon camera. I love to take a Photograph, moma gonna take my kodachrome away.
