I hiked the bottom section (about three miles in and three miles out) of the Narrows in September and carried my camera equipment in a Pelican case. I also used this case for a five day Grand Canyon float trip earlier in the month. Although a bit heavy and bulky, I knew my equipment was going to stay secure and dry. In the Zion hike, I kept the camera in the case on the hike in except when taking a photo. After hiking in, I realized that I felt pretty secure about my footing (I used and highly recommend TWO hiking poles when walking in the water), so on the hike out I took the camera out of the Pelican case and put it around my neck. Although a bit risky, I never fell or got the camera wet and got a lot of great shots because the camera was so handy. It is a spectacular place to photograph. Because of the way the light reflects off the walls of the slot canyon, the best lighting (at least in September) was between 11:00 AM and 2:00PM, not during the early morning/late evening hours. I had heard this from a local professional photographer before I did the hike and it was true.

I have a couple "OverBoard Waterproof SLR Camera Bags"
They come in different size and they are great for your gear.
I used it at the Virgin River as well.
B&H has a good selection

Did the hike live up to the hype?

I am starting to plan a top down hike of the Virigin River in Zion this summer. Since the majority of this hike is down the middle of the river, I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for some very good dry sacks for my camera gear?

since I hike with mine, I get a good hiking backpack then purchase foam and make my own cutouts. You end up with a much better setup.

I had a similar situation with a Sigma lens. Everything seemed to work after the drop, but when I sent it in to be checked and calibrated, the repair bill was $500

Depends on which one she bought. Do you know? Didn't think so.

The 29-year-old is taking her new job seriously. She reportedly bought a Canon EOS camera, which retails for about $400.

It may have come off the same assembly line. With subcontractors doing so much work branded by someone else who knows.

My late step father was an engineer for a commercial water purifier company. He once went to trouble shoot problems a major gin distiller was having with one purifier. (It turned out the solution was remove the control knobs and lock them up where that line's foreman couldn't get them.) While working on the machine he saw over a dozen brand names on bottles go down the line next to him to the filling step. He made a list and after that bought whichever brand was on sale.

I go every February. I never bring my camera inside....only memory cards and batteries. I usually snowmobile all over inside the park when I am there, so I dont usually have condensation issues. The one time I used a snowcoach, I had lots of condensation issues.

I work in cable specifically providing network connectivity to the home. What a lot of people dont realize is that we pay a standard per monthly circuit charge, then on top of that, we pay anywhere from .50-$1.00 per MEG that you use to the upstream provider.

90% of the subscribers out there never come close to those numbers in the cap, but there is that 10% that is always way over.
