I also used this case for a five day Grand Canyon float trip earlier in the month. Although a bit heavy and bulky, I knew my equipment was going to stay secure and dry. In the Zion hike, I kept the camera in the case on the hike in except when taking a photo. After hiking in, I realized that I felt pretty secure about my footing (I used and highly recommend TWO hiking poles when walking in the water), so on the hike out I took the camera out of the Pelican case and put it around my neck. Although a bit risky, I never fell or got the camera wet and got a lot of great shots because the camera was so handy. It is a spectacular place to photograph. Because of the way the light reflects off the walls of the slot canyon, the best lighting (at least in September) was between 11:00 AM and 2:00PM, not during the early morning/late evening hours. I had heard this from a local professional photographer before I did the hike and it was true.
