I have two of the earlier Panasonic ZS model cameras and they have been wonderful, but as backups. However when it comes to travel I have some hesitation about a camera that has only a 10x optical reach. (Just my personal preference but something you might want to think seriously about.) Aside from that the ZS series are wonderful cameras in their own right.

Glad to hear you’ve had good experience with the ZS line. Although the ZS100 has a 10x lens the 200 has a 15x lens of 24-360 making it more attractive to me. I figure since I don’t usually make big prints this camera should be sufficient and convenient.

I am losing interest in serious photography and am willing to part with my Sony gear to go to a compact travel camera. Before I list on eBay I want to give you a chance at some bargains. All items are in excellent condition with no hard use.
a6000 $400
55-210 lens $150 includes UV filter
Zeiss 16-70 $750 includes UV filter
Tiffen Graduated Neutral Density filter for Zeiss $35
B+W Circular Polarizer for Zeiss $40
3 extra batteries and charger for a6000 and Peak Design strap $50
or all of it for $1300 with free shipping for package.

Also selling Sony RX100iii with premium leather case for $525 includes shipping and charging cord

As a 'pocket camera', I have a Z80. It, too, is soft on the long end. Solution for me? I avoid using it at the end for 'telephoto'. If I want something that will be distant, I'll then crop it in my PS. The resolution is quite good, so cropping on 1/4 of the image still turns out sharp and not soft.

Sounds like a good solution. Thanks for your input.

Just in case you've not read Tom Dempsey's remarks about this camera:

http://photoseek.com/2016/panasonic-zs100-10x-zoom-bests-sony-rx100-for-travel-flexibility/

BTW; I've handled Tom's ZS100, and have concluded it's "soft at the long end", as reported.

I appreciate your input! The article was good and similar to many others but Dempsey seems very happy with the 100. My ONLY hang up now is “how soft?” at the long end? Especially with the ZS200 reaching out to 360? I’m not a professional selling large prints but I do admit to some degree of pixel peeping.

Does anyone have first hand experience with the new Panasonic ZS200? It looks like the ideal travel camera and I have read a LOT of the reviews. Several of them point out that the image quality is soft at the long end. Do you have this experience? Are you happy with the viewfinder? Any complaints or suggestions ? I am thinking of trading in my Sony a6000 and Zeiss 16-70 to get a more compact and longer reaching travel camera. I'd appreciate your input.

I have a Sony a6000 and Zeiss 16-70 and Sony 55-210 lenses. I rarely make prints and never larger than 16x20. I am a bit of a pixel peeper on my iPad. Will I be disappointed in the image quality of the Pany ZS200? I will get more range in a smaller ensemble and no lens changing. Mostly shoot landscapes and like to travel light. Does anyone have the ZS200 and what do you think of it? I know it's going from an APS-C to a 1" sensor but will I notice a difference unless I print big? I've read the reviews. I want your opinion on real world picture quality differences and convenience.

Thanks to everyone for your help! I’m taking a trip soon and hoping to get some good photos so want to shoot in raw in case I get a real keeper or two that could use some
PP work.

Is there a Post Processing program you recommend that will deal with RAW on an iPad? Or am I out of luck?

I have had my a6000 for several years and love it. It has lots more capabilities than I ever use but it is fun to learn new options. I suggest you download Gary Friedman's manual for it and go though it with camera in hand.

I’ve been to both canyons a couple of times. In the upper Canyon the guides throw dust in the air to show the sunbeams. But I found the most dust occurred on the ride to and from the canyon. Keep your camera covered or in a bag then. I had no problem with my DSLR but my wife’s point and shoot zoom lens got dust in it causing it to later malfunction. Just clean your camera when you leave. One point I don’t often read about is white balance. Try using the shade or cloudy setting to bring it more reds.

Guess I can’t post a photo. It was nearly identical to the ranch photo.
