I am confused also. I have had a lot of work published in magazines and local newspapers depending on the city I was in and never was ask to make any type of conversions like this. I followed the PGA tour for several years shooting for a magazine and earlier covered many tennis tournaments. I guess I just don't get them asking you to make conversions. I would think it would be there responsibility to make adjustments . In film days I simply mailed the film at the end of the tournament and in digital just email the shots and yes I did make some minor adjustments on digital.
Take a look at Smugmug. Cost can be very low if you just want to display
Traded with them a lot when I lived in Indy.. Nice store and knowledgeable people
I can tell you they pay better than most magazines. Have shot for various magazines for years and it is pretty good but have sold to a few commercial web site designers and it is much more but remember you are selling with the rights to use them for years while magazines are a one time pub. The site that pixelstan77 put up is a fair evaluation. Good luck
Two things I would try. 1. Lower exposure, not sure why you would need it so high and second try negative exposure comp exp. Many go as much as +or- five stops but only show 3. I am guessing about negative two should work with a much lower ISO. I shoot a lot of special events with darkened stage and that is what I use. Good luck
I have found I can often use a small pen light hidden behind and aimed at the label will give me just enough light on the label to make it stand out.
After 28 years shooting professionally, I suggest looking into a quality workshop. I no longer hold them but some excellent photographers do. They have you in a hands on location so they can assist one to one basis. The best classes are limited to a max of 10 people (often a max of 5) and may be for 1-3 days. Depending on the shoot, it can be a little expensive but I guarantee if you choose the right leader, you will come out with a world of knowledge (and understand it) to apply when you get home and you will have repeated it a number of times in the workshop. Do a little research for the leader you feel comfortable with and check out where they are holding their workshops. Try to narrow down what specifically you are most interested in such as landscape, portraits, sports, animals or whatever you would most like to do and now you have a means to find the best leader.
I would consider buying a lightly used 5D III. I still believe it is the workhorse of the Canon family. My backup has almost 250,000 on it. I am waiting for the V and then make my #! my new backup. I have been using my 7D II for a lot of my work also and it is a great all around model. Liked my old DX but wouldn't go back to it. You can find a refurb at a great price you will not be disappointed, I promise.
Sorry, we got to 78 here in Tampa.....Wouldn't think of rubbing it in however!!!!! Have a great time in Miami.
Even for sports I have a very hard time justifying the 1DX. Just carrying it around for a few hours really gets old in a hurry. Sure it is a little faster but consider, how many time do you "have to shoot" 3 to 4 more fps than the 5d or 7d ll will give you? Even the 7d ll is very fast and great for sports. The cost difference is a consideration but as I always do, if I need it I will buy it. Just haven't found a must have for it yet. Was shooting beside a photographer at a game last week and was using one of my 7d ll, he was more interested in using mine than his and he just shook his head and couldn't believe it. Still, I love the 5div, who wouldn't???????????
Yep, B&H shows it with an 8 Ft stand for $149
I am interested. How long have you had the Ranger?
Thanks
Ron
Honestly there is no reason to switch. I have been a Cannonite for many years and began with whatever I could get my hands on in school. Keep what you have and at some future time you may want to update the body but you will have a good start on glass. Most of us began with no glass to start and can honestly say you are talking apples to apples. Both have great products and great glass.
Take a peek at Smugmug. Not too much moolay and pretty good ordering program. A friend uses it for his youth sport shots and works quite well.
