Thanks all. The rain came overnight and was still coming down this morning, so no walks this morning. :(

Beautiful shots, great dogs. What kind? How old? How big?

They are Giant Schnauzers. They are the third and fourth we have had over the years. He is 7 1/2 years old and 80 pounds and she is 5 1/2 and 72. They are smart, loyal and stubborn. They can test you every day; for example on our walks they know to stop and sit at each intersection we come to. They might do it 8 times in a row without being told, but at number nine they may just decide to walk right into the street unless I am paying attention.

Yep, can't imagine a better way to start off the day than taking them for a walk. They enjoy it and it puts me in a good mood.

We've got rain coming in later today which is what I am guessing gave us this great sunrise this morning. Tried to get both dogs to pose but they were distracted by cars driving by, so I was lucky to get them to sit still next to each other for a minute.

Sherman is our 7 1/2 year old male (with the blue and purple scarf) and Stassi is his 5 1/2 year old half sister.

These were taken with my iPhone 11 pro.

What a sky to start the day with!

Last time I got to see Jeff Beck was on his 2013 tour with Brian Wilson. The two acts couldn’t have been more different, with Brian Wilson and his band basically being an “oldies” show (sorry, that hurts to say because I do love his music). Jeff Beck came on second and wow, he seemed energized by playing with people much younger than him. His band seemed to push him and he responded with a great set. It was fun to watch him and it was so easy to see how much he still valued his music and enjoyed playing it. He has always been my favorite of the three Yardbirds guitarists.

Jeff Beck is my all time favorite musician. I first saw him in 1975 touring with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and I've seen him every time I had the chance since then. In recent years he has had lots of women in his bands, and the band with Tai was one of the best. He was amazing with the Yardbirds, and he has done nothing but get better since then. Most rockers his age are just nostalgia acts now, but Jeff has been pushing the envelope throughout his career. The last few times I've seen him it felt like he didn't play anything all evening that wasn't just thrilling. He's even dabbled a little in classical music:

I picked up a Kirk BH1 a number of years ago off eBay, and absolutely love it. It is rock solid and rated to hold 50 pounds. It is extremely smooth and easy to use. I have a smaller RRS head for my travel tripod that I am also very happy with, but wanted to give you an option other than the RRS that folks have already mentioned

Thanks all. The nice light hitting the moss in the second shot was there for about 10-15 seconds and then things changed and it got much brighter and harsher. I was a little uncomfortable at the spot in the first shot because it was real slick and I kept wondering if my insurance would actually cover my camera if it slid off into the gorge. That was when I decided to move to the second spot!

Mother's day here in Ohio was WET! We got almost 2 inches here in the Columbus area, with more coming down north of here. With this in mind I checked out one of our local waterfalls to see what the levels were like. I could hear the falls when I pulled up to Indian Run Park in Dublin this morning, and when I got to them, the water was really moving.

I keep looking for a vantage point to see the whole falls as the water flows through the gorge, but I just can't seem to find the perfect spot. Probably in late summer the water level will be low enough to wade in at the bottom, but that certainly wasn't the case today.

Enjoy the downloads.

Thanks. I have tried using the shadow slider and sometimes it works and other times it grays them out. It is just a delicate balance which is hard to find sometimes.

We are lucky to have a great groomer, but there is still a lot of brushing out beards and legs.

Our current male Giant Schnauzer's 7th birthday is this upcoming Monday, the 22nd, and I thought I would share some pics of the breed we have enjoyed over the last 20+ years.

And before you go out to get one of these great dogs for your own house, do understand that along with being smart, loyal, protective of their family and great looking, they are headstrong sometimes to the point of being stubborn. We've found out over the years that they will test you, sometimes daily, but the rewards are worth it.

One other thing I have found out over the years is that it is hard to shoot black dogs and have their expressions show. I'll keep trying.

Check out the downloads.

My wife's first mini, Fremont. To keep a happy home I have to say he was the smartest dog ever (he was pretty sharp).

My boy Hans with his metal counterpart. He came from a breed rescue at 4 and gave us 6 great years.

Another rescue, Simon. He was big for a mini and he was our backyard hunter.

Next came Sherman the birthday boy.

Sherman's half sister Stassi. She is our super model.

Sherman got to go with me on a trip back home a couple years ago.

The town does kind of close up in the winter time. Can't blame them, that is a different type of cold up there.
