Outstanding pictures! Thanks for the tour! And you are absolutely correct - we do have an incredibly beautiful (and diverse - nature-speaking) country!

I would try both models out: either rent both or go to a store where you can actually handle them - then decide.

Are you in AZ? I guess the northern part of the state really got hammered; I would've loved to see it but was glad I didn't have to drive through it. Unfortunately my part of NM didn't get nearly as much as predicted, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

I have a friend in Payson, AZ and he had 2' at his house. He's at around 5000' elev. They normally get 5 -6 rounds of snow in a winter but usually measured in inches. Not feet...

Really like #1 & #2. Third image seems to have quite a bit of noise.

Ok. I get that your main system is Fuji...was this a test to see if you might switch to Pentax? Or...?
It's too heavy? Ergonomics? Too different than your Fuji stuff?

<Should have used F11, 1/100, ISO 100 to 200>

This is a response to the above (trying to quote "sergiohm"'s post)

The OP cannot shoot an 80-400mm zoom lens zoomed out to 320mm at 1/100th for shutter speed while hand-holding and expect to capture sharp images. For that they would need to mount it on a tripod or use a bean bag on top of a vehicle or other stable object.

You don't need to shoot the moon at such a high ISO. Shoot in manual mode with ISO set to between 100 - 400 at f11 (or f8) (trying the different combos to ensure you will have a high-enough Shutter speed) and select a shutter speed that is approx. 1.25X-1.5X the focal length of your lens (since you have a high MP sensor in that D850) and you mentioned you are hand-holding the lens. So if your shooting your zoom lens at 320mm make sure your shutter speed is at minimum 1/400 or 1/480 to get the best results (this is somewhat dependent on your shooting technique coupled with how steady your hands are).

I would take anything Cohen says with a grain of salt. In fact, anyone from DC, anyone anywhere near politics or politicians should be listened to with a heavy dose of skepticism and one's critical thinking cap firmly on. (I don't care what a politician has in front of or behind their name either (whether R, D, or I).

Especially when it comes to someone trying to garner public (or other) support for either a) a lighter sentence, or, b) to curry favor (or both).
Just my observation...

I like the images very much.

You may want to do some tests at different focal lengths and different distances to check focus. You may need to do some fine-tuning (autofocus adjustments) between the lens and body if you feel this is an area that is causing your images to not look quite like you think they should...

I am unfamiliar with the 7D Mk II but I suspect that the Autofocus mode needs to be in "One Shot" to use Live View and be able to magnify the image on screen... (I have a 7D [Mk I])

I would only agree to meet, to at least check out if the guy really has this equipment and it is in good working order, in a very public place. Meeting at the local Police station is an excellent suggestion. If the seller balks at meeting there, then 'run' the other way. Meeting at the Police station does two things, puts pressure on the seller as to if they're legit or not, and, will provide the buyer with a 'quick' and handy way to have the Police run the Serial numbers on the equipment to see if they're hot-or-not...

It depends if you are talking about the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC G2 vs the Canon 24-70mm f2.8L IS? As this lens doesn't exist. They [Canon] have the 24-70mm f4.0L IS (a good lens by all accounts and w/Macro), the 24-70mm f2.8L (version I) and the newer and better-in-every-way (except price) 24-70mm f2.8L II. The Canon version is better than the Tamron (comparing the latest versions of each). However, the real question is, based on your use case, would you miss the VC of the Tamron or are you mainly a tripod user? Because in handholding both lenses (and somewhat depending on the camera body you use (sensor resolution/pixel size), when your shutter speed begins to drop you will get better results/images with the Tamron due to the VC. (Pros and Cons to both...) Good luck!

Dustin Abbott has a very, very good real-world review comparing the Canon, Tamron, and Sigma Art lenses - he has some interesting finds in his head-to-head-to-head testing/comparing. And for most of his reviews he has video versions available if you prefer that style over reading...
