Remember a few years ago when the USPS used a photo of the Korean War sculpture on a stamp? They did it again with the Statue of Liberty, and they tried to get away with it.

"U.S. Postal Service must pay $3.5 million after confusing Statue of Liberty with ‘sexier’ Las Vegas replica"

I think it's ridiculous that the USPS would pay $3.5m to reprint the stamps. I don't think anyone would have noticed until someone mentioned it. If someone bought those stamps, they'll probably be worth something someday. Just like the stamp that was printed with an upside down airplane years ago.

The USPS shouldn't waste the taxpayers money just to correct something that probably no one would even notice. The government sure knows how to waste our tax dollars.

What kind of camera is the Canon SX-50? DSLR, P&S? If you were standing in your kitchen, how did you get such wonderful pictures with bugs? They're great.

Canon SX-50. Six shots.

You got these through your kitchen window? Beautiful. Did you take the screen off or adjust your aperture? What are the berry-like things in the last picture?

I like C. I like the light blue sky rather than the gray sky.

[quote=PAToGraphy]Playing around with a new computer and my photo programs. No more crashes so far. Went to dinner in a mill town tonight and sun was strong at sunset. A few different presets and filters. I am always amazed at the sheer numbers of bricks and the artistic patterns. I will always wonder what used to be inside and what the inside looks like now - rats and all, I bet.[/quote

These are beautiful. Where were they taken?

Not quite. The world respected Obama and has nothing but loathing for the Orange Buffoon. The United States has lost its standing as a leader and a defender of democracy. The only one that may like him is Putin because he's doing Putin's business but even Putin doesn't respect him. He's merely a Putin puppet.

So true.

I have some 16" x 20" photos that I wan to frame. I plan on using a simple black frame and a white mat. Question is what is the best way to mount the photo before placing it in the frame? Should I just place it loosely in the frame with some sort of rigid backing or actually glue the photo to a rigid backing? If I glue it what is the best type of glue to use? How do the PROS do it?

Never use glue to mount a picture. It can ruin the picture.

I generally go to the ballpark with my 70-300 lens, but I’d like to try the 200-500 the next time I go out. I still do not trust myself to get good results handholding this lens. I use a very basic head on my monopod which simply tilts forward and backwards. I am shooting from the stands, so a tripod is out of the question. Would it be crazy to put my gimbal head on my monopod to use this lens? In case anyone asks, the 70-300 is definitely adequate from where I sit, but I want to try out the 200-500 just for grins. Actually, it would be a big advantage for shooting outfielders. What do you folks think?

Thanks!

Check out Cottoncarrier. They have a support device which you attach to a vest and you wouldn't need a monopod or a tripod. It's also good for taking photos of birds and other animals when you don't want to use a monopod or a tripod.

Conventional Q tips produce lint, which I don't like around the insides of my SLRs or lenses, digital or not. I do keep some Zeiss moist towelettes on hand anywhere I might take a camera, cell phone, or even my glasses. If there's a lintless Q-tip, I'm not aware of it, but it would seem to be a good invention.

If we can go to the moon, why can't we produce a lint-free swab?

Andy

Maybe a small sponge paint "brush" could be used instead of a cotton swab.

Headed to the Gulf Coast in a couple of weeks. Renting a house on the beach. I regularly clean my lenses but is there any thing different I should do after a day at the beach exposed to all the salt air and sand? I am also hesitant about changing lenses while on the beach? Should I just stick to one lens until I am back in the house?

Thanks for your advise.

You should have a UV filter on your lens. That would protect the actual lens. If something happens to the filter, it's much cheaper to replace that than a new lens. Also using a lens hood, which comes with most lenses, will help. If you need to change your lens, you could probably do it inside a bag with a cover on it. You could have the cover open just enough to get your hand inside and change lenses that way.

Is anyone interested in mushrooms? Do you have any pictures? I believe they would be welcome. Bill

I have mushroom pictures, some taken in my front yard, others in a neighbor's yard and some in the woods. Not sure how to post them in response to your posting.
