What part of the posted signs "NO PHOTO" did you not understand ?
Or better did you think they did not apply to you

No doubt this will be moved to obscurity but meanwhile check out this video.

There is a portion where this guy uses 2 flashes with Better Beamers for shooting outdoors in Africa.

What is the flash system on the lens ~ not the Beamer but rather the ring ~ very interesting

It'a all good, just pace yourself, and shoot all you've got...please post your shots when you get back. I've necver been disappointed with any of the locations you'll be seeing, enjoy.

I want to thank everyone - great help.
We may not be going until September of 2017 - it appears to be too late to make reservation. Unfortunately !

We are planning a three week trip. Questions what do we NOT want to miss? Where do you suggest we stay?

Thinking that we'd return to S.F. via highway 101. We are planning to go as far south as Santa Maria. Should we go farther south? Or not even that far.

Thanks

I regularly wear bifocals and find it bothersome to PP photos on my 27" monitor because of trying to get the close vision portion of the glasses focused on different ares of the screen.

I have thought of getting a pair of reading glasses from the drugstore that I believe would enable me to eliminate the bobbing and weaving while trying to focus on all areas of the screen.

Has anyone else run into this problem and what do you use.

I got my eye doctor to make a pair of bi-focals (reading on the bottom) and the top to focus from 36" to as close 12".

I did this at least 25 years ago and called them Computer Glasses which the doctor asked if she could use the name and recommend the set-up to others.

With this change I have no neck problems or eye strain.

Ask your doctor about the set up

I am planning a photographic trip this month to Arches National Park and before I go, I would love to view links, books, and any other resources about the park that will prepare me for an informed, productive photo shoot, and an efficient use of my time.. Thanks in advance for your wisdom and counsel.

Go to "GOOGLE EARTH" many, many pics there. Also Jon Fuller is a very good guide in MOAB ~ worth talking to him.

Ever since shooting my friends D810, I've been on the lookout for a good deal on one. Was tempted by gray market but worried that with such a complex device, service might be an issue. Well, happened to be perusing Nikon's site on President's day weekend and saw they had refurbished D810's for 10% off regular price plus free shipping. This brought the price down to that of a gray market (new) but would have a 90 day Nikon warranty and be supported by Nikon thereafter. Sounded good so I ordered one! The camera came today and other than being in a white box, it appeared as new. Of course, the first thing I did was to shoot a frame and check the shutter count. Expecting at least a few hundred or even a few thousand clicks, I was surprised to see the count was only 16! This was probably a camera used at a show or demo site and never used but not able to be sold as new. At any rate, I'm happy to have it and am looking forward to shooting this weekend!

I bought a refurbed D800 and was told used in a show and had only 250 accusations. When I got it , took a shot and inserted the SD card and it had 251 shots.

love it it was like new or even better. Enjoy your new toy.

I had the opportunity to photography the eagles up in Regis' area for a few days this week. I'm not trying to compete with Regis' images (I'm not that crazy), but I'm pretty happy with what I was able to capture with a little lesser equipment. Especially with the rain, snow and cloudy skies.

All were taken with Canon 7D MKII and 100mm-400mm lens. Most were taken with camera attached to Manfrotto monopod.

I like yours as they are not over sharpened and look much more as the feathers actually are.

I'll add my 2 cents. There are people on UHH than do a lot of PP. Especially sharpening bird photos where the feathers just are not that sharp.

That said National Geo was a client for 30 years. We did prep & printing work - i.e., Separations and corrections prior to plate making to print.
The amount of correction/improvement/manipulation of the proofs/files was very large and time consuming.

So that is the way things are - right, wrong or indifferent?

But I agree that one should get it right in the camera and then minimal PP.
