Like someone else said replacing a keyboard in a laptop is fairly simple and straight forward, for most laptops you can find the maintenance manual on-line and I have found many videos on YouTube for different laptops. If the rest of the laptop is doing it's job then you may may to try this until you get it fixed or replaced, most of the newer Windows Releases have on-screen keyboards as part of the Accessibility tools. See here: http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10762/windows-use-on-screen-keyboard. This website might help also in how to replace your keyboard: http://www.ifixit.com/Device/Sony_Laptop

That's good, and new. Previously they had been removing the warranty slip on those replacements.

My replacement D610 came with a warranty also but I was part of the class action lawsuit -- I don't know if that made a difference or not. I was really fortunate because I bought my D600 refurbished at Adorama for $1075 so I really made out well. The D610 is a wonderful camera, the more I use it the happier I am.

Dubai is in Saudi Arabia Jerry and they have entirely to much of our money. This is why we need to become energy independent to bring that money back to us.

Dubai is the largest city in the United Arab Emirates not Saudi Arabia

Thanks all for your input on this. I am a little hesitant to attempt to replace this part on my own, but our local camera shop gave me an estimate of at least $150 to replace the part. Perhaps I will attempt it after all.

$150 is a ripoff for replacing that mount. The entire job going really slow and paying attention to detail should only take 15-20 minutes.

#8 reminds me of the movie 'Tremors' with the giant worms or whatever they were. Were these taken in Michigan? Very nice series Mark.

Great explanation. I want to compare the DB-46 to the DB-44 to see if there is any difference besides the 2mm ball head difference. What tripods are you currently using?

Here is a video on the Dolica tripod and head:

I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB (aluminum) with a Manfrotto 496RC2 head and a Dolica 70" carbon fiber that was part of a set that came with a Dolica head and legs. The legs have twist locks instead of flip locks, the twist locks are much easier to use than the flip locks I think. The tripod and head are refurbished and sell for $139.00 or best offer on eBay(I offered $120 and got it):

Adorama sells the same setup for $300. I replaced the head on both tripods with the Demon DB-46. Need anything else, let me know, glad to help you out.

The Demon ball head is made by Desmond by the way, I saw that same YouTube video on the DLOW-55. The way I understand, setting the tension adjustment is this: You start with a slightly loose ball head, then adjust the tension adjustment until you feel the tension on the ball the way you like it to feel when positioning for a shot(not entirely loose or tight) loose enough to be able to move your camera with a slight drag to it, you can almost let go of the camera and it will stay where it is positioned but it is not locked down. After you set the tension to the desired feel; the locking knob at that point will only have so much travel, say about 1/4 turn. It is enough to release the ball head for free movement and you can tighten the knob to where it is impossible to move it. This has a 46mm ball that sits in a cup and there is so much surface area on the ball it doesn't take Hercules to lock it down. After setting the tension correctly the head can be tightened and loosened with approx 1/4 turn of the knob. Not sure I explained it very well but I find it works quite well and I am happy with it.
