This was taken in Turkey, a mainly Muslim country but very cosmopolitan as you can see from the jeans of these local girls.
My problem is, with shaky hands, I cannot remove the guys behind the girls to my satisfaction. What I get is too horrible to show. I know you can do better.

A different attempt. Picked up where I left off and followed Linda's lead. Straightened image. Removed distracting pole. Ran it through Topaz clarity and then just for fun did a tone compression through Photomatix

Such breathtaking beauty! What a magical place.

I started with artar's (he did all the hard work :) ), straightened horizon, added a bit of graduated ND filter, cloned out some distracting elements, darkened the orange piece and white below it (in foreground), cropped a tiny bit from bottom.

Nice

I receintly posted this image in the Photo Gallery, in both color and B&W. I am not experienced in converting color to B&W, and Linda From Maine suggested that I post it here for people to play with.

It was also suggested that it be cropped above the rust mark on the foreground rock, which does look better.

If you are interested, have fun!

Added a difference layer at 70% opacity (maintains a slight hint of color), a luminosity layer at 100% opacity, and a levels layer for some mid-range lighting adjustment

Here is a shot from Joshua Tree National Park of the Milky Way and a little of the desert landscape. Straight out of the camera ( with the exception of converting it to jpeg :-) )

I haven't seen a lot of activity in this section, so I thought I'd try to get some of the creative juices flowing.

You're mission, should you choose to accept it...
blah blah blah :-D

Take it, have fun with it, post it and tell us what, how and why you did what you did.

I'm am really looking forward to seeing what everyone here comes up with!

In memory of 9/11. Took your sky, increase clarity, contrast, and pull down the blacks in ACR. Then overlayed the bottom portion with a photo I took on a very foggy day. Hope you don't mind the modification

I Need some advice: This osprey "posed" while I shot from a hotel balcony. He was above me against an overcast sky as background. I changed aperture/shutter speed settings over a wide range, but could not get around the blown out look and lack of color and definition. Shooting a 75-300 mm 1:4.8-6.7 II Olympus lens on Olympus OM D10 body. Any thoughts on what to try in PP?? Thanks

Can't come close to Bob Yankle's excellent rendition, but here is my attempt

A while back I was in Malaga Cathedral, Spain, taking photographs, The image here has some verticals and horizontals that need correcting - simple enough, right? Well, not exactly because a few buddies and I have had fun arguing over what needs correcting and what does not. The guy was included to give a sense of scale.
Now it's your turn - have at it in any way you choose.
Have fun.
