Great to see you again, Claud! I love your result. Is the old Topaz Simplify involved? I've switched from Elements to Affinity but also to the new M1 Mac from Windows and have been wondering if there's any way to get Simplify into my system
Integrating Photoshop plugins is easy, at least on a PC. Install the plugins as normal, open Affinity Photo, go to 'Preferences,' click on Photoshop Plugins, check the box to allow unknown plugins to be used, select the folder where the plugin is located, and then restart Affinity Photo. The plugin should be found under the menu Filters/plugins.
Very well done composite. It all goes together very nicely. Did you only use Topaz on the background? I like that the Elk looks more natural. The combination keeps the background from distracting from the Elk.
Yes, I used Topaz Simplify for the whole image, but enhanced the elk by overlaying the original elk and blending it into the background.
Both the background and the elk are my images. Both images were taken on the same day and in the same general time and area. Both images were processed in Affinity Photo and cycled through legacy Topaz plugins.
The background was taken from a ridge overlooking “West Horseshoe Park” and the “Alluvial Fan” on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Go For It!! I have been using Affinity for 4-5 years and find it a solid replacement for PS/LR. It's a quality product, has a large library of tutorials and online support/help when you need it. So far I have no complaints. Mark
Wanderer2, I totally agree with you. I, also, shoot only Raw, and they are converted nicely into Affinity Photo for me. Been using Photoshop since 2002, now in Affinity Photo, and not looking back.
I have approximately 35K photos all edited and catalogged in Lightroom with multiple keywords for each. How can I extract, into a backup media, all the metadata and keywords for these into another library so that I can use keywords to find each individual photo outside of Lightroom?
Are there free or inexpensive software packages that will take and use the catalogging of Lightroom where I will be able to look up a photo using keywords searches? Or, is there software that will take the keywords used in Lightroom and create them as a name for each of the photos, so that I can access the photos in the backup external drive library by keyword? I'm asking this in the event that I no longer have Lightroom, but would still like to maintain the keywording of my photos. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike Vetrano.

Good video. I've never played with LUTs. When do you use them?
LUTs are a kind of color filter used to alter color in an image.
They can alter gamma, contrast, saturation, luminance, and hue. They take original colors and change them into a new set of colors.
They can be used for color correction, color grading work, color enhancement, adding darker tones for mood adjustment, increasing shadows and highlights, boosting mid-tones, and on and on.
They are a creative tool, and in my opinion, are used when the creative urge strikes.
