Although I left Oregon in 1964 to enter the Marine Corps, it remains my favorite state (not withstanding the political climate there.) I go back and visit every year or two and take some photos. Your comments and critiques are welcome.

Construction seems to take as long as the would-be users are willing to put up with it (and a little longer).

I know of NO ONE who likes it. Yes, I did live in AZ and enjoyed the absence of it.

So why do we still have it? Must be some bureaucrat has a way of making money from it -- or like to listen to the rest of us bitch about it, twice a year.

The common advice for computers seems to be that you never have enough memory. I often use my wife's iMac 21.5" computer. She didn't need heavy processing, so I ordered her the basic Mac. Looking at the specs, I was amazed to see that it has only 4 GB of memory. I usually get 16 GB for my machines. Looking online, I learned that it can hold 16 GB, and the prices were good. One site had a link, "Do you really need more memory?" - or something like that. They had comparisons of iMacs with 4, 8, and 16 GB. In several tests, there was virtually no difference between 8 and 16 GB. Only when processing huge files or doing intensive processing in PS, did the 16 GB show a significant advantage. So, it looks like I saved myself $80.

The amount of memory does make a difference but I found the biggest difference is in the speed of the processor; ie., a 2.8mip chip is noticeably faster than 2.4

Technically, Any difference between what was owed and what the insurance paid (assuming the home-owner had insurance), is still owed the bank.

During the past week my my Windows 10 and Adobe Lr and Ps CC became a nightmare. I'm not very tech savvy so when W 10 did the auto upgrade is when I believe the trouble started. I was no longer able to log into Lr, I could log into my CC account but not Lr, since I was in the middle of syncing with my iPad I thought I was doing something wrong. I studied the tutorials from Adobe, YouTube, anything I could find for a couple of days without success. I finally found a telephone number for Adobe help. Yesterday I called them, after 4 hours and 52 minutes on speaker phone with three different Adobe computer engineers operating my computer remotely, I now have two new Windows 10 user accounts and I'm left with no Lr, no Ps ....gone....even they couldn't reload them.....and a promise that they will call me back today.

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Canadian Rockies sometime around the end of July or August 2017. We've never been and it's on our bucket list. We will visiting areas of Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise. Planning on 10 days but can be flexible one way or the other. Would appreciate suggestions on the best way (times of day, best route, etc) to photograph our trip experience. Best resources to check out for Photography ops. We are not heavy duty hikers but can handle a medium 3-4 mile trek to a nice photo location if need be. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

From Jasper, a relatively short drive SE, Lake Molighn or something like that) is a super cold, glacier fed, strange colored lake, in my opinion very worth seeing. The offer boat tours with a knowledgeable guide. In August the lake should be unfrozen, though no guarantees on that in late August. Lots and lots and lots of photo ops

PSE, in my computer is screwed up or I would send some pics.

Intent vs. negligence and the variance between. It is the grey area that will continue to make lawyers wealthy, forever.

This is not new news. I remember an article I read in the '60s that GOOD photographers, with effort can achieve about 10% 'keepers,' but less than half of those will stand the test of time.

Sounds like a really good idea, but in my many years of photography, I've never lost or misplaced a camera and I am in my late 70's. Appealing idea though.
