Yes, that was it. Route 1 was closed on different segment during the following days, e.g. you couldn't get out of Siglufjördur, or get to Myvatn. We were also locked in an hotel where the snow reached the 2nd floor...

Thank you all for your comments.

The picture was taken after the "centennial storm" a week before when the northern part of the island was out of power and telecommunications for 4 days...And we had daylight for less than 3 hours.

Yes, I did some dehazing (called Clearview in Photolab3) to give a bit of depth. The original picture was rather monotone, only a few blue shadows in the flowing water.

Nice series.

Small detail: it's located in the South-West of the country.

Great shots. Allow me to correct the spelling: the name of the city is Mantes-La-Jolie, and it's pretty close to the western Paris suburbs...

I use this one from amazon.com:

JJC Standard Hot Shoe Adapter with Extra PC sync connection Port & 3.5mm Mini Phone Connection Port for Connecting Cameras to Additional Off-camera Flash, Studio Light / Strobes or Other Accessories

works fine with my old Braun flash.

I consider this as the 2nd most important accessory after my camera for my city tours/street photography. I tried several models but so far haven't found the one that fully meets my requirements:
- easy to turn around your neck to pick the camera
- relatively safe against pickpockets when carried on the back
- waterproof
and holding
- 1 APS-C DSLR with mounted grip and 15-85mm zoom
- tablet and phone
- passport, purse and pocket guidebook
- small stuff (lenspen, dust blower, memory cards etc)
- separate holder/compartment for water bottle
Does NOT need to hold tripod, flash or additional lenses.

If you own or came across a specific model that fits this bill, please please let me know. The search on this web site didn't bring recent posts on this subject.

Switzerland is so small you can reach almost any corner in day trips. Surroundings of Lake Geneva are a good start (Montreux, Chillon Castle). Wild scenery in the Grisons and the Rhine valley (the Rhine is a little creek there) which you can easily reach from Zurich through Glarus. Basel has interesting spots in the old city (houses date back to 1400-1500) and probably the highest number of museums in the world (about 50).
A guided old city walking tour is available (see on tripadvisor). For superb sightseing in the mountain, the Glacier express is a must (www.sbb.ch).

Best way to improve focus by disconnecting from the shutter release. My yield increased significantly since I use this technique learned from the pros.

Usefull if you have a focussing problem on a Sigma lens and cheaper than sending the lens to Sigma (Your local Sigma branch sends it further to Sigma Japan - at no additional costs - but it takes a while to get it back). Easy to use. But once you have done your adjustments, you better sell it. So did I.

If you primarily use the laptop for editing, you need to look at high end model with features such as core I7, SSD, a good chunk of RAM (16Gb), IPS non-glare display with sRGB gamut, dedicated graphics, HDMI port for external display, card reader, USB-3 and an illuminated keyboard to work in the dark. The link below is a good selection guide for all those features (it's a secure European site but most models are the same as in the US):

You may be surprised by the temperature there. As I write this Dec. 28, 4pm Norway local time, the temp at the Evenes airport is 37 F... I was in Tromso last Feb which is further north, and my 10 dollar sports gloves from Costco did the job, even at night when shooting the northern lights. I had a pair of standard ski gloves in my back pack for the longer walks.
