1) Use the camera you have. Failure of the shutter may not give any clue it is about to fail.
2) If you are planning a 'once in a lifetime' event or trip, look at a low shutter activation count used camera or a new one if it somehow justified paying the extra money.

I went on a trip with a single camera body and a few lenses. Wanted to travel light on my honeymoon! Two days into the trip, the camera shutter died. Memories lost! -

One of my first bosses told me, "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. But don't make the same mistake a second time."

Now, I travel with 2 camera bodies and an array of lenses.

Jerry "Well, I would pay a fee if I used a credit card, but I don't pay a fee if PayPal takes the money from my bank account. Maybe that counts as a debit, but that's the way I pay all my bills. I don't write checks anymore."

I have not used checks in 20 years?

I still don't get what you are trying to say, PP can take money from any of my accounts (Bank), without me setting it up. I never use PP friends & family. I can do wire transfers which caused me in business to stop using checks.

I know of at least one other blog that advised not to use PP-FF as the blogs leverage as well as PP backing is lost.

I just really don't understand the tip you were tiring to get across. Friends & Family to ify for me.

In your original post , "However, if you have the money taken from your bank account, there is no fee," isn't that a debit card or how do you do it of was this an incorrect statement?

I like pay pal and by using my Credit Union Credit Card I have back up with PP and the CUCC. PayPal does not back up Friends & Family.

Use of a Debit card on transaction does not protect me from and thing including fraud. This care needs to be taking.

It is something to think about!

I have yet to ask the Hogs to spend my money! What ever the reason or the solution that I need to find I found it by observation. Some chums have ask my opinion, and I always preface it by stating it is an opinion and nothing more. Something's make sense and other do not.

I see the value of older gear. A chum would the fresh out gear and give me the next newest, thus my call sign Gifted One. I have purchased two bodies with all my dig-shooting, a FF & small mirror-less.

I have had some health issues and will return to the most basic.

So do something about it. I heard a good one a long time ago. If one person says you are horses ass, take note. If several chant it perhaps you need to go to a saddle maker or take a long at your actions.

Perfect quote. Thanks ! I will remember this in the future. Seems to have defined this situation well !

I really do wish all well! There are solutions and if none are wanted, one can google saddle maker closed to the Thumb!

Hey Marsha, Welcome! First I am not a Nikon shooter, I have Canon and Sony. Your quest is not about a brand specific but a situation.

First did you shoot this body its entire life? 176,550 is a lot of images. if you took them congratulations, my compliments!

Second makers don't guarantee an activation number but a general rule to suggest a usage. I think that is what that means.

I have a senior (77) and have several camera so always a backup. I had a shutter die once (under warranty), so I was not with out a camera.

Perhaps there is many more activation left in that body (the camera body), but you could look for low usage 7200 at bargain price to add as an adjunct to your system. I always find it's good to have multiple combos available, whether shooting critters or GK.

I try to have a war chest, (funds Available), for planned spontaneous purchases. The camera dies I sort of know what I want to purchase and there it is MAGIC!

There are those that would suggest you sell anything of value that you have including the Grandkids, buy the latest dx or switch to fx or mirrorless or well you get the picture. Perhaps you have with system. The resale of that body is naggable the would try and kill it

Have a great day!

I was just joking with you and I think you know that. Poor doggie!

Actually I think you are very serious. I shall pray for you and your release!

I am putting together a dream kit list for the new Canon 5 mirrorless. Care to divert your thinking? The best part not my money. It's for a friend!
