Super colour combination, unfortunately you are just not quite there with the focus. My guess would be you are shooting within the minimum focus distance ( 25cms approx 9 3/4" ); shoot further back and then crop in to enlarge.

I really enjoyed this series, well done for your first submission.

Try ticking store the original box it does make a difference!

These glads are beautiful macro. And a lovely shot. I noticed a couple of visitors who liked the flowers also. I have some in my garden that are just starting to open and they are about the color of yours. Very nice work! Jan

The lacewing was a bonus, I never even saw it until I downloaded.

Ours is a singular Gladioli which comes up every year faithfully.

I couldn't agree more Macro2009, I was shocked and disappointed at the colors when it posted, I'm glad I hit that download button. I agree it's not as sharp as it could be. I should have increased my f-stop up a notch or two I guess.

I have a heck of a time seeing up close; even with glasses; even the little display monitor is hard for me to tell. I have actually started allowing the camera to auto focus more-and-more, however this wasn't one of those times. ;-)

I would recommend you use the live view facility if you are having visual problems.

Mono-pod. Thanks for the complement. I am getting the feel for the new size and weight distribution. I could carry this combo around all day very comfortably.

Thanks for your reply; I find it also possible to hand hold heavy equipment for short periods, due to the weight distribution. Monopods and tripods can be restricting unless you have something like a gimbal head.

Good luck with the new equipment, a very good start.
Was the series hand held or tripod/monopod?

Hi Michael
Believe it or not that was intentional, there is a small area where they meet and that was the part I wanted in focus. To me at the time it looked like the 2 lilies were embracing and that is why I wanted to have that soft effect. Different people see different things I guess anyway I'm glad you liked them and thanks for your comments.

I understand you concentrating on this “soft caress”, it is very evocative.
It is always difficult to second guess the artists intentions.

Thanks for posting.
