Here are a couple I took last night in Upstate South Carolina with a Canon SX 40 hand held. Just learning so would appreciate any helpful critique. Thanks.

Sounds great! Cam and a couple of other Friends and I went to a photography workshop last Sat. It was a good start at learning about manual. Would love to get together and shoot soon.
Well hello Ginny! Didn't know you were here. This little guy was roaming the neighborhood. I think the blue and pink are much more intense than in real life. But
I shot these on auto. - no tripod. I have used a monopod for some shots when I use full zoom. I took somepbotos of the supermoon w/o the monopod and was pleased. However I have some difficulty holding it steady consistently at full zoom. The camera did these- I justheld it and pushed the button! Thanks.
Here are a few photos from my first few days of using the SX 40 on my vacation to the Grand Canyon in May. You can see a few other pics I have taken on my Introduction "Hello from SC"
Thanks AuntieM -- I only took 1000+ photos out there. Beautiful country.
Thanks for the warm welcomes from all of you. I am looking forward to learning lots from you folks and hopefully sharing a few decent shots too. The shutterbug has bitten hard since I've gotten my SX 40.
Thanks, Tom. I have learned a lot from reading the posts here. Still have miles to go. This seems like a great group to learn from. My experience is limited to point and shoots and am now practicing with the Canon SX 40.
Hi all- i have been lurking around for a while and decided it was time to introduce myself. My primary camera is a Canon Sx 40 which I dearly love, though am still mostly shooting in some of the auto and preset modes. I bought it for a trip to Arizona and got some great( for me shots). Since I have been home I have concentrated mostly on the birds and wildlife near my house- mostly a great blue and a young great blue I seem to have an obsession with! I love looking at all the photos posted and will try to attach a couple of mine. Thanks. Please feel free to critique in any way that will help me learn. Lib

Love mine. Got it in May. Use mostly on auto and scene modes, but am beginning to venture out to manual. Love the wildlife and bird shots. I'm a newbie here. Lost my first response in cyberspace! Hope this one makes it!
Hi- I got my SX 40 in May for a trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I absolutely love it. It goes where I go. Particularly love it for bird and other wildlife shots. This is my first post will go back and introduce myself when I can get to the computer.
