I have collected a number of LeRoy Neman serigraphs. Each is signed in pencil. Good enough for him is good enough for me.

I have canon 7D and attach it to 580 EX with a 6 foot cable at the cost of $37, bot from BH Photo in NYC. It attaches to both and is perfect to BEGIN off camera flash. I often have canon camera on tripod, set pic actuation for 2 or 10 seconds then move/aim light. Glad I started this way. Much later I added other items but learning more about flash via experience has got me over a huge hurdle.

Best book reference is Speedliters handbook by Arena. Enjoy the journey!

I am a 7d user. Love certain features that are high on my usage requirements. 8 FPS gives me the speed for fast moving subjects. Golf swings, birds, football etc. it is a 1.6 not a full frame camera. Hence I am able to get real close-ups for sports with various lenses. It has an excellent body. I live on an island in the Atlantic and have had no humidity issues. I like the pop-up flash feature. It functions as the master controlling my Ex580. I am not a pro, local camera club rates my images in the advanced category.

A good start, but here are a few suggestions. #1 image. Do you have filters? The glare off the water caused by the stetting sun can be controlled with a polarizer. #2 when ever you can, the eyes of an animal should be in focus. #3 is outstanding!

When you buy your new camera, place "return address" labels on every item. That goes for body, flash card, lens, case, flash, batteries, etc. There are honest folks in this world. But if you don’t have your ID they will never find you. One thief must have had a guilty conscience and sent a friend back his flash card and kept the camera!

As #4 suggests - let you camera and lens adjust to changing tempertures. When I take my equipment from a heated environment to below freezing give it 5 minutes or more before making images. Same holds true when taking equipment from AC to hot beach. Condesation can cause major problems.

I have the Canon 2x, use it with Canon 7D & 70-200 lens, primarily for sports. The images I capture have been crisp. The extender was far more economical than upgrading to a larger lens.

Since your result is over exposure you might try these settings. Dial Aperture Setting and set at smallest AV as your lens allows (f22+?). ISO at 100. Set camera on tripod or secure a steady position. Make the image. The Camera will adjust to a proper TV (speed). Check to see if image is what you like. If it is not blurred enough further restriction on light is necessary. Later in day, cloudy day, or more ND filter.

Have you thought of using a mono pod? Tripods are ideal but a mono pod is far better than hand-held. A mono pod is handy too, carrying the camera & attached lens is far easier. I sling my rig over my shoulder as I walk to the field. Turn off IS and snap away! But if you are absolute on hand held IS is necessary.

I loved the images! Even my wife who says "so what" to my egret, heron etc. was in awe of your composition!

When using a 7d Canon it will lock focus. Simply frame the child before she blows bubbles by pushing the shutter button half way down. And keep holding it hwlf way down until she blows the bubbles. Then push the shutter button all the way down to record the image. That way she will be in focus. I agree with others, standing back further will help if you do not use focus lock.

I started to type the info from the instruction manual and thought it best to recommend using the manual that came with your 5D. Check "Bracketing" in the index. Post a more specific question.

The light in a church is challenging. White balance is the issue. I use a Canon zoom 24-105 f/4 L lens and expodisc (www.expodisc.com) to determine proper WB. But you can change light to tungsten or flourescent, check info/viewer to see if the color is ok. Take in RAW so you can adjust in post processing.

What lenses do own?

When you are making images at 400mm = f/5.6, it is far from fast glass. Try TV mode @ 1/250 for hand held, 1/60 for monopod. Increase ISO to +1600 on cloudy days. You may experience light (glaciers) subjects. Most Glaciers are NOT white. Increase exposure compensation. Turn off stabilizer when on tripod or monopod. I went to Alaska in August and experienced many cloudy, wet days (Protect you equipment). Light was seldom bright. I have 2 L series lenses and adore them! I envy the fun you will have experimenting w/settings to capture breaching whales and distant vistas! Be sure to post a few when you return!!

#1 I recommend cropping to eliminate the two tree tops on lower left. The clouds are awesome, the tree on the right adds perspective.

#2 n 3 appear to be focused on the foreground. When distance is open, manual focus would help the distant objects. Perhaps f/8 - f/11, and focus 1/3 into the scene will bring in clairty to the light house and distant bank on #2.
