Personally, I have a D90 so I'm biased. But if you have had it for a long time, you are Very familiar with it, sometimes that goes a long way over newer technology. And I didn't buy the 7000 because of the focus issues I read about, I'm saving up for a D800 so I can be a camera snob LOL

Photography is a Craft. Just like so many other professions.
It takes practice, knowledge of your tools, the understanding of composition, and practice, practice.
Each area of photography, Candid, Wedding, Press, industrial, wildlife, landscape, etc, all require an expertise and understanding in that particular field.
Some of the people on UHH have those individual levels of expertise and are willing to share so that others may learn.
They share their expertise with us on a daily basis. We learn from each other. There is room for as many persons who want to learn to take advantage of this opportunity.
The UHH is a forum for us to share, to learn, and to enjoy.
Let's not make it a forum for creating discontent, arguments, and, and, and.
Relax, enjoy, post.

How many times have we seen variations of this thread:

"I'm a wedding photographer and I've got a gig coming up in two days and I don't know what lens to bring...can someone help?"

You can substitute the word "wedding photographer" for "senior portrait photographer" or any number of other variations but that's not important to my question.

The question that always comes to mind is this: "in what other profession would people think that it's acceptable to just "wing it" and hang out a shingle because you had the money to buy some gear?

I can't think of one.

Plumber?

"Hello Plumbing company..I have a real problem with my pipes"

Plumbing company: "no problem...do you mind if I learn on your job? I've never done this before but I do have the pipe wrenches...hopefully everything will go ok...."

Doctor?

Lawyer?

Car Mechanic?

Why do people think that this is acceptable when it comes to providing a professional service like photography?

Anyone who's seen a REAL quality portfolio (not a wanna-be portfolio) realizes what kind of skill level is involved.

For the record: I'm not better than anyone else, nor am I arrogant for recognizing this,...I'd never attempt it myself.

Then why have this forum? Dont forget we all joined to learn or help others. Or did you join to be a know it all forum troll, And try to stop others from learning?..If they got hired they must have showed something good to the people. Sorry to tell you but the market is dieing! With the new gear most peope can get a good job done. Hell there are phone out there that take good pics lol. If you didnt want to help people learn. find a pro only forum to troll.
Some of you think only you can take a pic lol.
Just try to rember when you were learning and had a question or two to ask.

The drawing quality works particularly well on slivers of metal, wood, or glass beneath the surface of the skin.

•Contains chlorobutanol, cresylic acid, zinc oxide, camphor, ammonia and oils of clove, sassafras and myrrh in a base of petrolatum, beeswax and lanolin
•2 oz tins

And so we all experience things differently: one of the reasons I don't use live view is that in bright light I can't see what it says on the LCD screen, while I can see perfectly well what it says on the bottom strip inside the viewfinder.

(The other reason for using the viewfinder is that I like the added stability of pushing the camera against my face and tucking my elbows in tightly).

Don't care...

I shoot Canon and if Nikon would give me their latest and greatest bodies and lenses for free I certainly wouln't turn them down....in fact I would gladly accept.

These are only tools for photographers and the best camera in the world is the one I have with me at any given moment.

Arguing Canon over Nikon over Sony et al. is a waste of time except for gear heads and pundits that make money reviewing and stirring the pot.
