I have a possible fix. Provided by user scubadoc.
Instructions: On an iPad, I click on settings>Top Left where your name appears, than iCloud, than enable private relay (see attachment). This enables iCloud + which allows downloading of external images. Alternatively, you can use a VPN.

If you are opening topics from the digest, then consider using "return to digest" buttons at the top and bottom of the page. I added them precisely because some browser's back buttons don't work as expected. And I can't figure out why. It seems to affect a small number of people, but I can't replicate it on my end.

A few people reported something like that. I can't pinpoint it.

You are banned from General Chit-Chat for repeatedly posting politics in that section.
So if a topic you see in Upcoming Topics list is in GCC, then you won't be able to reply. If it's in some other section, then you should be able to reply as usual. Upcoming Topics list shows latest topics in all sections to which you are subscribed, without showing the section name.

If you click from the digest, then you'll see return to digest. Otherwise, you won't see it because there is nothing to return to. Not everyone visits topics from the digest. So it wouldn't make sense to always include that link for everyone.

I phased it out because apparently a lot of new users didn't realize there are sections they can open to get access to more topics. They would just visit the home page, scroll through those 10 topics, and then leave.
So now we are back to how it was before I added the "active list" on the home page. I had high hopes for that feature when implementing it, but looks like it backfired.

Click Newest Topics link at the top to sort by date.
When shown in sections the topics are sorted according to the last reply, as is normally done on forums.
