After watching videos of Adobe Generative Fill AI in Adobe Beta Firefly, it seems that will cause a serious damage to photography as we know it today.

I have a tape measure handy. The rear display of my G9XII is 3.25x2.25 inches, that's a pretty large view finder. This model doesn't have a movable screen, so yes, there are times I might be shooting 'blind', maybe holding the camera down at my knee instead of laying on the ground myself. But, this 21st century modern technology, I can take as many digital versions as needed to get a great one. I just check my 3.25x2.25in screen and decide if I need to try again.

When you think about hiking 803 miles, with everything you need strapped to your back or in your pockets, how important would a view finder held to your eye really be?

I considered viewfinder important and that's why I went with Sony RXVII. The size of LCD screen doesn't help much on a bright day. I find the same issue when trying to use iPad or laptop outside on a bright day.

I believe that Canon Powershot G-series cameras lack a viewfinder. In my view, this is a very serious limitation. It's very hard to see what you are capturing on a bright day. It's almost like shooting with your eyes closed.

Thank you everyone for your great suggestions. Even though many of you suggested the Sony RX100 VII, I wound up purchasing the Canon G7X Mark III.

I went to Best Buy to look at all of the suggested cameras, picked them up, held them, put them to my eye, and the G7X felt the best and easiest to use. The front grip was the clincher. It was just the most comfortable to hold and use.

I researched all of the brands on the internet with many sites suggesting Sony, Canon or Panasonic as the best. So, Photographically, any one would be fine as a travel camera, but, I found that the Canon G7X had the best feel and best grip. So, I bought the Canon G7X Mark III, on line, at B&H, and am loving it.

Thanks again for all your great suggestions and responses.

While back I was faced with a similar decision between Sony and Canon pocket cameras. Lack of viewfinder on Canon was a deal breaker for me. It's hard to see things on a touchscreen LCD on a bright day.

Check out SuperDuper!...it's like Carbon Copy Cloner. Very easy to use and you can boot from it if things get messed up. If your main drive is screwed up- you can copy your backup to the main HD and you are back in business in a few minutes. A life saver. This plus Time Machine makes for a smart combo.

I concur

For a local backup, I have been using SuperDuper for years and am happy with it. I use Backblaze for cloud backup. This in addition to Apple Time Machine. These backups provide me with a desired redundancy.

Just enter 16 X 20 frames on Amazon. There’s tons of them.

I am well aware of that but was asking for recommendations from photographers.

Were you using Neilson frames or a copy of them? Personally, I like plain black wooden frames because they help isolate the photos from the wall and a window matt helps contain the eye.

I have been using Nielsen frames, the ones that you assemble yourself but am not locked into them.

I am looking for recommendations for picture frames for gallery displays. I have been using 16x20 contrast grey metal picture frames for my 11x14 and 11x17 pictures. I have depleted my supply and don't recall the source which I was using. There were the ones composed of 4 pieces with hardware to put them together and acryllic front. I am open to other suggestions also.

Nice collection! I took number of IR images there few years ago. A good venue for IR.

Personally, for a "pocket sized" travel camera, this is a $3200 waste of money as it won't fit in your pocket. My 20MP Powershot GX9II really does fix in my pocket and takes wonderful images, only missing the ability to change to specialized lenses like a larger interchangeable lens camera.

In my view, the main problem with the Canon Powershot is a lack of viewfinder. On a bright day, it becomes very difficult to see what you are trying to capture. I gave one to my wife and she hardly uses for that reason. For a pocket camera, I use Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII. It fits in a pocket and has a focal length 24-200 (35 mm equivalent), but is about double price of Canon Powershot.
