Pretty cool, Phil. I used to do something similar on film with 3 exposures thru different filters. I think I may like your effect better. Wanna share technique?

absolutely ... I take 3 shots (camera on tripod) long exposure is best (I used a 3 stop) ... leave a few minutes between shots (I leave about 30 seconds) - in your editing program (I use Corel Paintshop Pro X9 - but anyone should do) - each shot is opened as a layer - open the Color Channel to use only the R, G and B channel of each shot (layer). Specifically, for the first shot, set the Red to 100% and Green and Blue to 0%. For the second shot, set Green to 100% and Red and Blue to 0%. And for the third shot set Blue to 100% and Red and Green to 0%.
Then merge them by setting the opacity of the first shot to 33% and the second shot to 50%, Then, merge the layers (flatten)

Adjust brightness until you are happy ...

Here is another I shot today - (IMHO) a better part of the river for this type of shot ... no conversion to b&w first - I preferred this one to stay in color :)

thanks for looking and the opportunity to share technique

Phil

Probably not to everyone's taste -
I tried this technique a couple of years ago - posted here in UHH - always vowed to get to a better place to shoot a nicer pic ... this is one I totally prefer :) (of course - my most favourite spot on 'my' river)
dl recommended

cheers

at the same spot a few days before - using a 6 stop ND filter ... I love our river - it's less than a block from my house :)
I walk my Simba on the banks of the river most days - we get about 2 miles of semi trail right alongside the river before I have to cut back in land.

Thanks for all the great feedback
Phil

My local river is raging at the moment ... lot of rain and snow melt in the mountains ... when the best camera in the world is the one you got with you! :)

These beautiful creatures are at a wine-tasting estate (farm) in Richmond BC ... on a break between hockey games needed to kill some time and happened upon it - snapped a few of them in various poses ... and super friendly as well ...

I bought this clock in an unworking condition a few weeks ago ... a good dust n clean (alcohol) got it back into a ticking condition ... however the front/back vertical is slightly out so I had to add about 1/16th inch 'feet' on the front elevation to keep it ticking for it's full 31 day cycle ... lit with beauty dish against black background ... dl is cool

Lost my old vinyl when house took on water in 2000. Still have Eric on CD's. Really like his work.

Clapton - one of the greatest guitar player ever ... saw him live in Botswana in '89 - one of the highlights of my life - :)
I have a lot of Clapton LP's - even ones I bought in the 70's still in immaculate playing condition - I take great care of my records :)
... and many others ... to numerous to mention :)

First two are opportunity shots - when the best camera you have is the one you have on you (in that case the trusty iPhone) and the last two are a concerted effort when you bring out the big boys (5D Mk2 with 24-70)

Vancouver has been shrouded with fog the last week or so :)

Wildfires burning a few hundred clecks away from Vancouver give everything an apocalyptic feel - and sense of foreboding ... on the water by 6 am yesterday - I took this shot of the sun reflecting off the water (Port Moody buildings in the background) at about 6:30 am ...

This is our little Simba ... since the passing of her closest friend (sister, mama, etc.) Ginger - she now goes absolutely everywhere with us ... we made her a life jacket for on the boat ... :) right now Vancouver is pretty much blanketed in dust from wildfires burning a few hundred clicks away - hence the dusty background (Deep Cove)

My daughter received her degree yesterday ... there were about a gazillion people - and I was about a gazillion miles away from anything ... but we managed to find each other across the 'big divide' ... fortunately I had 200 mm lens with 2x converter - so got a great shot at 400 mm from waaaay waaaay off
Thanks for looking ... Phil
