If you read some of the bigger manufactures instructions, they say for one, never delete a file from a card. They say you should always reformat a card. Now these are instructions, not a must do. My routine is, I download all photos with a card placed in a reader. Once they are all downloaded, they are placed in a card holder. When ready to shoot, a card is placed in the camera, and formatted. A card should never be formatted on a computer.

Am I right, nope, just my way of doing it. Are you wrong, nope, just your way of doing it.

I have Arca Swiss L-Brackets on all my bodies. A couple of my straps, use the tripod mount, but of course with the L-bracket you can't do that. On my straps I have placed a simple Arca swiss compatible clamp. Makes it very quick if you want to place your camera on a tripod. I have also got in the habit of randomly checking the both the clamp and the attachment from the strap. Yet to have any issues.

Seems that if you thought the 28-300 was heavy, but you are considering the 150-600 sport, not sure I understand that one. Nikon 24-120, 24-85 are a couple of good lens, I have both. My main lens is either the 24-70 or the 70-200. I just recently purchased the Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 lens, could not be happier. Nikon is $2800, Tamron is $1300. If your a semi pro, you can't beat the Tamron for the money. They also make a killer 24-70

Hi All,

Curious to know your thoughts on the Nikon D850? I shoot a lot of sports photography (track, football, basketball). I will be trying to get into senior and family portraits also. I currently have a Canon 70D with the 28-300/ 3.5-5.6.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Course finding one is going to be a challenge.

I had an eyecup on my D7100 but couldn’t use it in the D500 because it interfered with the articulating screen

ah, very simple little fix for that. I just trim the bottom edge off. Works great, no interference with the screen. I do that to even the non articulating screens...

You do realize the store has no control over how the product was used by the OP, whether it was used correctly or not, instructions were followed or not and so on. The OP mentioned he had scratched the sensor. Does that sound as if instructions were followed? I am not against the OP and feel as bad for him and his wallet as the rest of the members here. I appreciate the telling of what happened. But through the entire anecdote we read, My gut feeling told me not to, BUT...

How is any of this the fault of the store or salesman? For all we know other people used the very same product with great results. I am sure shoppers would recommend the same product.

Well said Dennis, a car dealer can sell you a car, not their responsibility to make sure you can drive it.

I have heard a range of $75.00 to $200 to have a sensor cleaned.

I can not begin to say how much money I have saved by cleaning the sensors myself and those of my friends. Not to mention the time of not having the camera.

I do not think you can compare medicine to cleaning a sensor....lol

I am not sure what Canon does. I have cleaned countless Nikon's for myself and friends, never had an issue. I cleaned one Canon, she ended up having to send it to Canon, cost was $400.

I too have the sticky sticks as I call them, they work awesome. I do find I do not always need them. Normally, a quick hit with the blower, a sensor swab, with sensor cleaning fluid. One swipe, turn the swab, second swipe on the other half, and I find it is clean. Take a quick photo at f/22 against a solid white background, zoom in and check. Repeat if needed.

I did find one thing with a Canon, you can not clean the mirror with anything, other than the blower.

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Oh, and I purchased all my cleaning items from B&H. I find many of the local stores simply want to make a sale. B&H has great technical support and videos as well

At B&H you can get a Nikon D810 body kit for about $2100. A little lower price might get you more takers.
