During July 4th weekend, when I was in Maine, I went to La Verna Preserve in Bristol, ME. There I noticed these peculiar mushrooms. Mother Nature is more ceative and skilled than we humans, IMHO

.... just had to pull the trigger on this one!

This was a "Craigs List" "Free" category image I took when we replaced one of ours in the Beach Cabin.... someone came and got it a few hours later!

John P Crapper would be proud if he could see this pic.

Well used.

What a beautiful old truck in its work clothes. Hope it never gets repainted.

When I was there many, many years ago the city was practically one big wild west museum. I've heard that now it's mostly bright lights and casinos. I'm glad the cemetery has retained it's character.

Thanks Guyserman. It's been several years since my last visit and I too hope it doesn't change.

Nice pic but waz what in it? I see a number of tombstones but can identity none.
I am now an armchair traveler and like to learn as I view.

The tall headstone in the fenced area on the right is the head of Wild Bill Hickok, from the backside. The elevated site to the left with the bowl shaped stone is Calamity Jane's burial site. She wanted to be buried next to him and somehow got that arranged. It's a beautiful cemetery in its entirety and if you are ever in Deadwood, don't miss it.

Nice work with the black and white!

Thanks John. It was quite some time ago but I remember struggling with the b/w conversion on this one for some reason.

Beautifully done, Jack. Great B&W subject.

Thanks Joe. I knew it would be b/w before pushing the shutter button.

The famous graves were interesting, but the section devoted to the children that died in a cholera epidemic was heartbreaking. So many, so small, with small markers so close together. I've not seen anything like it since.

Well done photo, by the way.

Thanks bflood. I usually see lots of those when I visit old cemeteries. Very sad.
