I don't usually do people portraits. I find I take shots that are too personal and I wouldn't post them on a public site but animals are a different story.

I picked portraits because it is a challenge for me to do people at all. Well, I didn't do real great so I am opening it up a little.... Lets include portraits of friends, strangers, pets, or even a selfy... and if you just get some close ups of people we will call it a portrait, no full body shots, just close ups of faces.

Last year I was in L.A. and photographed some buildings near the Staples Center. I was very cautious because it is L.A. and getting dark. Shot this while in my parked car, at an awkward angle. Loved the colors!
I thought I recognized the buildings. To the left in my pano shot outside the Ritz.

Besides being "The Festive Season" for most, it is also a time of sadness for many. To counter that, today's challenge involves the posting of photographs of "HAPPY STRANGERS." Adults that are laughing, smiling, generally cheerful or, as evidenced by my avatar, recently lobotomized. People who at the time you snapped them you were not acquainted with. Perhaps in a parade, a sporting event, at a concert, on the beach, in the background etc. etc. etc. Main purpose is to elicit a smile from all and sundry. Cheers! Modest.

Parents didn't have money for pictures so I thought I would give it a try. Do you think they are good enough, or any ideas on what I could have done better
Not that I'm a professional in anyway but just looking at them from a viewing stand point, here's my take.
First, all are very well done. I love the composition, lighting and frame effect.
The first one, I'm distracted by what looks like her navel piercing showing through her top. I love the framing..great call.
The second one, I don't like the fact that you can see her pink polka dot bra through her shirt. Again, it draws away from a great shot.
Third one, my favorite..it's sweet and you want to get to know her.
Fourth is good but you see her phone sticking out her back pocket. Again it is a distraction though not too bad.

Beautiful, Country Gal. I live in Wilmington, NC and work on one of the ferries down here. I've been all over the world and the best sunrises and sunsets are right here. Thanks for sharing.
Kure Beach is my favorote beach on the east coast. Miles of empty Beach, reasonable rentals, love the preserved area, took the car ferry to Southport, played golf at several of the courses and the sunrise and sunsets are incredible. I would love to retire there.
Thanks for the coorrection on Midway. Marshall? I saw too many Oprah's. Thanks for all who chimed in.
Probably, it's just difficult to tell. I ran it through every filter on Picmonkey and some made it more clear. There were still no distinquishing characteristics other than it looks like the two ends were bigger than the middle part which makes me think you are right but it is just too far away to know for sure.
