I agree whole heartedly with Loren. I travel to the Philippines several times a year. Never had a problem. Be sure to visit the Phil-Am cemetery in Manila. Go have fun and forget the nay-sayers.
I am glad to see your postings, I wish more divers would show their photos. I promise I will be more forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Thanks for the shots of the beauty to be found in California waters; they brought back memories. Nowadays I only dive in warm water...I am off to the Philippines next week.
Definitely a mantis shrimp. The oval eyes are indicative of the 'spearer.' Without seeing more of the shrimp I cannot identify the species.
Nice to see some life on this site; I have no reason to complain since I am not contributing at this time. I promise more.
Go to your local dive shop and get one of those expandable cords that you can attach to the camera housing and yourself. They will know exactly what you need. Lens: wide-angle.
Kereru,
Nice shots. I am visiting Madagascar in early September, any suggestions? I am curious too, since this is a topic of conversation, about the availability of drinkable water and the need for inoculations. I know this question is sort of off track, but I am sure, since you have recently visited the island, you will have the best answers.
Thank you, Bonnie
I do not mean to sound glib, but this is an Underwater Photography forum. As a suggestion, get a good book on reef creatures; I suggest one by Paul Human and Ned Deloach.
This is a sapsucking slug or Costasiella sp. they are approximately 7 mm in size. Photo taken in Puerto Galera, Philippines.
I was going to enter this photo in a contest, but the rules for entry were so bothersome I decided against it.
Happy to hear you did not sustain any damage.
Rick, if you are in or near Kingwood, let me know...happy to help where needed.
Our neighborhood is underwater, but fortunately my house is dry. This forum has been a respite for me during this event. Thanks, to you'all...though I rarely post, I watch everyday.
Beautiful shots. Anilao is one of my favorite places in the world...just back from 10 days (Tubbatha, Coron, Apo, Verde, and Anilao). Going back next month.
