I'd like to get a monopod that will collapse down to maybe 18".
I'd also like it to be $25 or less.
Any suggestions, or is this too unrealistic?

Painters roller extension pieces with 1/4-20 hanger bolt screwed into the wooden end piece. Probably looking at $10-$12. You can get a really nice carbon fiber one for $100, mine is a Surui. Weighs about a pound.

This is the page regarding shots and sizes from the manual for my Canon 1D Mark III. I recall the buffer being able to transfer about 100mb per second.
New is possibly faster. I'm sure the 1Dx greatly surpasses that rate.

don't know where the batteries are. I did check and I have the insurance till 2015 so I'm good there. Trying to get in on line to apple as there's only a store about 4 hours from me

I think the reply was referring to the standalone trackpad that Apple sells. It is Bluetooth and uses 2 AA batteries to power it. It would be an option to use one if your on board trackpad is broken and you don't want to repair it. I use one with my Mac Mini.

Interested if anyone has tried using a 85mm 1.8 prime lens with a 1.4 TC. With my 1.3 crop camera and the TC it works out to about 155mm equivalent without losing too much lens speed. Am I missing something with this thought?

I think Tony Northrup in his equipment book had a $3000 bird shooting setup and a $12,000 setup. He said he didn't feel, there was any good options in between IIRC. IT JUST COSTS A LOT TO SHOOT GOOD WILD BIRD SHOTS I guess.

In my view manipulation turns any photo into an image. Whether using film or digital... Photo,is what is captured by the camera. Manipulate that and you are creating an image.

I'm not sure that I agree with the "wildly inaccurate" estimates. The more photos you shoot the more you would likely approach average photo size...

Gee, all I got so far is Led Zeppelin's remastered Mothership album and $25 cash so far. But the cash I'll use for something photo related!

My Canon manual gives estimated sizes for each type and combination of types that can be shot. This table also gives an estimate of the number of shots per gigabyte of storage and how many shots can be shot in a burst also.
I guess this table could give a shooter a rough idea of how many shots would fit on any sizes of memory cards the shooter might use.

Interesting thing to me is that IIRC my camera is considered a 10.1 megapixel, yet it says the average RAW file size is 13 megabytes. But there are reasons for that that I won't get into right now.

Canon manuals can be downloaded it seems, I don't know about other brands.

Very nice picture. Thanks for posting. Yes, another camera and a FF would be nice. Maybe I can get my daughter to buy the camera and I can buy the 70-200. She won't need to use the camera anyway...she'll be busy playing volleyball !!!
