Does it matter if I shoot with a picture control such as "Vivid" or if I shoot with a white balance setting such as "Cloudy" if I am shooting a RAW file? I am a beginner and really appreciate all the wonderful information in this forum.
I had fun playing around with in camera multiple exposure mode with my Nikon d5100 and ended up with this 3 exposure photo. This is the first photo I've uploaded to the site, and I hope I did it properly so you can see it. My apologies if it is not visible.
I live in Kentucky. I care more about the devestation of our mountains due to mountaintop removal mining than I do about global warming because I can actually see the moonscapes left after MTR and I know people who suffer because they live near these sites. Coal turns the lights on. It provides cheap energy only if you are foolish enough to ignore the effects of MTR. We should stop acting like spoiled kids and realize that we can make sacrifices and changes. We need to conserve energy now and convert to renewable energy for the future.
Thanks for all your help - you were right. My computer doesn't have enough video memory and apparently can not be upgraded because it is a laptop. I guess that, in addition to the photo gear I'd like to have, I also have a new computer on the wish list!
Does anyone have any experience with Perfect Photo Suite 7? I installed it on my computer. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't get the program to work without a lot of bogging down and crashing.
I have a lot of downward arrows in the upper right corners of my thumbnail images in my LR catalog. Should I use the "Save Metadata to File" command on all of these images? Advantages? Disadvantages? Thanks for any advice - this forum is wonderful!
I also love backpacking and photography. Your camera and lens are bigger and heavier than mine, so this advice may not help you. I shopped around to find a plastic storage box (Rubbermaid, Tupperware, etc.) that pretty much exactly fits my d5100 with a 16-85 lens to protect it from bumps and rain while in my pack without the weight of a heavy duty camera case. When I'm walking with my backpack on my back in less rugged terrain, I also have a waist pack to carry the camera so that it is readily available. I keep a plastic bag in the waist pack in case of a sudden shower. You may have to compromise and carry a smaller, lighter lens. It is frustrating to be in such beautiful places at the best times of the day for photo shooting without all of our best gear, but we also have to carry food, tent, etc. Also, zipshot makes a lightweight tripod. I've done the Elk Park - Chicago Basin trek 3 times and it is one of my favorite areas!
I do a lot of landscape photography with my Nikon d5100. I often find that the 18-55 kit lens does not give me a wide enough view. Does anyone have experience with this Tokina lens? Will auto focus work on a d5100? Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Thanks for all the good info. My issue of main concern is, "What is the best way to share or send links to the slideshow so that others can easily see it at a good resolution?"
Thanks for the advice. I'll try the Kim Kommando site for creating the slideshows. How do I e-mail the link to the slideshows?
I'd like to share my photos as links to slideshows with music. Can anyone give me advice about the best way to accomplish this?
It bothers me that Fox almost exclusively calls liberals to task. Yes, liberals appear on Fox. Just look at the popular show 'The Five" - one chosen weak liberal and four conservatives. Is that truly fair and balanced? You can't complain about biased media and choose to get your "news" from Fox unless you are hypocritical.
Are you complaining that the media is liberal and left-leaning, or is your dissatisfaction based on the idea that that they don't always say what you want to hear? Turn on Fox - you'll be happy.
I live in the great state of Kentucky, but Mitch does not represent my values and wishes for my state or my country. He is an old-style political boss selling out to the highest bidder. That said, if his office was illegally tapped, that is wrong. Mitch's biggest threat will come from the right (ie. Tea Party). Will the outrage from conservatives continue if the FBI finds that a Tea Partier did the bugging? If you live in Kentucky, you know that is possible.
I can organize photos into collections in Lightroom 4 and publish them to Revel, but I can't access them as collections or albums in Revel. Is there a way to publish from Lightroom as a collection or album and have the organization transfer to Revel?
