Why can't I see the video files when I look at the SD card? This happened with two SD cards.

I just shot a video with my A6000. The MTS file is in a different directory from the photo files.

For A6000, the directory path is
PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM
Sub directory STREAM has the MTS files.

I bought the A6000 to use with my old Minolta SR mount manual lenses. It works great for that. I don't think I could have made a better choice. The A6000 has focus peaking and focus magnifier which makes manual focusing easier than with my old SRT-101. It makes a very good low light camera with a f/1.2 prime and 1600 ISO.

Con #1: I have the standard 16-50mm kit lens and it is nothing special. You should be prepared to get a better lens which may cost more than the camera.

Con #2: The Sony documentation is terrible. Luckily, the Gary Friedman ebook is the best camera "manual" you'll ever read.

I've used nothing but a Microsoft wireless mouse for several years. It's great being untethered. Mine is "Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000." It uses one AA battery. I use the computer a lot, several hrs per day, and I replace the battery about every 6 months. This mouse might be too small for you however. It's smaller than my "regular" wired mouse used to be. Wireless mice work best when the USB receiver is on the same side of the computer as the mouse. If you do that, then wireless is just as reliable as wired.

You could use Amazon cloud drive for $12/yr. I use Dropbox (free) to move photos between Apple devices and a Windows 7 PC. It looks like there is a version for the Kindle Fire as well.

You should look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 12-32mm Lens on sale at Adorama for $450.

I have over 1000 3.5" discs on a bookshelf behind me and at least 250 5.25 discs. I used to back up everything, including making an extra copy of any programs which came with their own set of discs. I also have a database I can use to find which box a particular disc is in. But I can't remember the last time I looked at any of discs - probably closer to 15 years than 10. But I'm all set if I ever need to go back - I still have a Windows 98 Gateway tower in my closet with both disc drives in it, as well as a CD burner and USB port.

If pocketable is a requirement, then the A6000 is not an option. I have it and it won't fit in any of my pockets.

I looked at small, used cameras when I wanted an upgraded pocket camera recently. I got a Panasonic DMC-LF1 from Adorama rated E- condition but looks like new to me. At 1/3 the new cost. It has a viewfinder and shoots either raw or jpeg (or both) output. The zoom range is a little limited, but it is better than my iPhone. I have carried it in shirt and pants pockets while hiking/biking. Exactly what I was looking for.

35 mm bodies are not worth much. But a lot of the old lenses have value because they will work with digital bodies with adapters. I researched selling my SRT-101 lenses, and they were selling for $50 to $100 each on eBay. In the end, I couldn't see giving them away for that. Instead, I bought a Sony A6000 and I'm happily shooting manual when I'm feeling nostalgic. The A6000 has focus peaking and focus magnifier which makes manual focusing very easy.

I still think it is a sharp-shinned hawk based on the square tail. Cooper's has a more rounded tail. But they are very hard to tell a part. See photos from Cornell site.

Most likely an immature sharp-shinned hawk. But other 1st year hawks look similar.

From Windows 7 Help. This usually works for me (but not always). You may have to browse to find the CS6 "exe" program that you want to make the default.
-----------------

If you double-click a file in Windows and it opens in the wrong software program, follow these steps to choose the program you would prefer to use. You can change this setting for an individual file, or you change this setting so Windows opens all files of the same type in the software program you choose.

- Open the folder that contains the file you want to change.

- Right-click the file you want to change and then, depending on the type of file, either click Open with or point to Open with and then click Choose default program.

- Click the program you want to use to open the file.

- Do one of the following:

(i) If you want all files of that type to open in the same software program, select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box, and then click OK.

(ii) If you want only that file to open in the software program this one time, clear the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box, and then click OK.

I live about 5 minutes from that tunnel. I always expect to find bats hanging from the roof. Have you ever seen bats there?
It is amazing what a smartphone can do as well as the P & S cameras.

No bats. But a lot of the tunnels have nesting cliff swallows this time of year.

Great example. Most people wouldn't think to use HDR for this shot. I love it.

I do a lot of cycling these days and the only camera I usually carry with me is my phone. So I'm trying to become a better iPhone photographer and think about composition, lighting, focus, etc, before I take that snapshot.

I stopped this morning to take a picture of the bike tunnel under Hayden Road in Scottsdale, AZ. I knew if the shot worked at all, it would have to use HDR. I'll post both images from the phone as an example of the HDR capability built into today's smart phones. Truly amazing. The iPhone does this in less than one second. I did a little sharpening in PaintShopPro, but most of the processing was done in the phone.
