Gene, the Viewpoint 3 looks like an amazing piece of software. I do want to explore more photography with extreme wide angle, as in an 8mm lens. Thank you for the suggestion. I'm going to download a trial version tomorrow.

Then I hear you saying that Fisheye Hemi won't gain much for me. That is good to know.

I've experimented with another approach. Keep in mind, I'm wanting to experience an increased in wide angle capture. I took an image from last week at our Botanical garden here in St. Louis. I took a couple of images so that I was intentionally distant from my target subject. Then I would do a 16:9 crop as we usually like, being sure the rectangle resided just inside the circular region you saw. Once the crop was complete, I then put that image into Fisheye Hemi. It was then able to 'unbend' the trees that needed to be unbent. I was pleased with the result.

Now I have to wonder, did this end product actually generate an image that was wider than I could capture with my standard 17-40 wide angle zoom lens. Any hunches you have to offer?

Here is an image I captured this morning.

I'm learning, but ever so slowly. I can't believe that I can teach college physics, and it's a piece of cake. But, come Fisheye 8mm, and it all seems like a foreign language. So I got out the paperwork on my lens, the Sigma 8mm F3.5 EX DG, followed by "Circular Fisheye". Does this tell you more of what I'm working with here?

I'm just hoping that I can use this lens, with my Canon 5DII, and capture a superwide image without the bending. Unrealistic?

You made me smile about the play on Hemi engines. My 'name' has been played on as "Elliott", as in the race car driver. One of my students gave me a bumper sticker with: bill elliott: race car driver. Now I only have to put it on my rear bumper.

I am so impressed with your passion for fisheye. I have a question and a comment. First the comment: I just spent $790 on a Sigma 8mm fisheye, and as a retired teacher, that emptied my pocket very nicely. So a second fisheye can't be in my future anytime soon. Now my question: AS a teacher, I enjoy still teaching (part time college teacher here), and I enjoy learning more. I think Fisheye has opened a unique and fun door for me. It sounds like it has done the same thing for you. Can you and I continue to exchange email directly, rather than going through UHH? To show my earnest here is my personal email address: williamelliott937@gmail.com

Where did you learn all of this? Next question, what specific lens are you using, for which it is a 'full frame fisheye', and not a 'full circle fisheye'? I don't know if this tells you anything, but I recently bought a Sigma 8mm Fisheye. Now that I'm learning that there are more forms of fisheye, I'm suspecting mine is full circle fisheye?

I'm clearly a student here. Full Frame Fisheye, and not Circular Fisheye? I thought all fisheye would be circular. Tell me more please, and tell me the difference. Example, is your Fisheye 8mm?

Sorry, "not" = "now" using Affinity Photo. Sorry about my typo.

Having paid for PS since 2002, right up to PSCS6, I'm not using Affinity. Any ideas there?

Two of us are discussing this piece of software for ultra wide angle lenses, including 8mm.

If there is anyone else who has used this software, we'd appreciate hearing from you.

I think that might help. I'm also trying to learn the Fisheye-Hemi software. Have you had any experience with that?

I tried to drag an 8mm image from my desk top, onto the white box, but only the 'title' of the file appeared at the top. Am I missing something?

Thank you Stan. I'm glad I'm not the only one exploring and enjoying the super wide view lens.

Jerry, you must have a gazillion lenses, for which you need to check your inventory. I'm kidding, of course. But I'm certain now that you have more lenses than I do.

Kymarto, thank you for the lead for the Fisheye-Hemi. I see that it's available as a plug in for my Affinity Photo. I think I know what my project tomorrow will be ... after I trim some trees in the morning.

BTW, just to share a thought. I thoroughly enjoy working on my image in the spirt of High Dynamic Range. Even in my physics class, I teach my students about the huge dynamic range our eyes have, far greater than our DSLRs. Hence, the drive for HDR. Now, the fish eye? While HDR helps to approach the range our eyes can see, a super-wide angle lens actually does create images wider than our eyes can see. My editing a 16x9 rectangle in the center gives me "almost" a non-bending of a very wide image, which I like a great deal. But the bending? Well, thanks to Kymarto, I now know a solution to the pending too.

BTW, since I've just dropped a major hint for us all here, to realize our eye captures and send to our brains an image with extremely great dynamic range, our when it comes to our color vision, our eyes do have one significant weakness. Can you all figure out what that might be?
