I have the ipad2, and I add a flex dataplan that is $17 for 250m of data, use the camera on a the ipad and turn on the location service. once enable all the photos will includel the gps data embed, if I view it using geo album, it will show me exactly where I did go before.

I can also use dell voice to this as a phone to call anywhere in canada, or google voice to call US.

The next thing that I want to do is to find a small device, such as Samsung galaxy note or the new Samsung galaxy camera to take better photos, since I will use this for hiking.
Want to find a good app that I can plan the trip in advance on the topo map, get all the distance and elevation profile. with the help of gps to track the direction, and record the track info, in case I go off trail. Take photos along the way. And Enjoy all the photos back home.
I also want to find a nice monopod with the option of small tripod on the base and in case I can also use this as walking stick too. Is there anything like this available?
thanks.

your can edit the exif data, if you want this to be secret.
But I would say in case of emergency, this data might save your save, and 10 yrs down the road, this might be the only way to tell your grandson, where you did go before.

I use a app in my ipad call geo album, it is free and very easy to use. it put pin on the map and you can pin point all the place wher I shoot the photos. I want to find a simple app that can track my path of my gps as a log and mark it on the map, if I get something like this will help me a lot when I make a hiking trip. did anyone has some suggestion?
thanks.

the trend is change a lot, cell phone user will not sign the 3 yrs contract anymore, but getting more and more in unlimited data plan,
in Hong kong for example the plan is now unlimited data and 1500min of voice for U$12/ month, what that mean is data is cheap, and voice is nothing. In US they just want to get whatever they can like the Kodak in the old date to hold on to the film until it die. And this is almost the same in here. And Samsung know this trend and that is why they make their product like this now. (save a lot of money to test all the FCC test in phone channel testing)
And the cost to beam data today is a lot cheaper than before. the volume is getting bigger due to the smartphone. Chicken and egg is at the melting point that this 2 yrs is the critical point that the new business in data is fast growing. And this Samsung camera voip phone is the tip of the iceberg.

I am very interest in the Samsung Galaxy Camera, right now I am using ipad2 with 3g and the camera for document and design. I find this workflow make my life a lot easier. and the GPS data that include in the photo make it easy for me to find where I take the photo. With all the GPS program like waze and only use very little data, but I can get a GPS that is as good as the real stuff.
in Canada, I am paying $5 for 10MB, and auto jump to $17 for 250MB then $35 for 5G. I guess I will mostly use $17/month is good enough for me to read some email, gps, and make some phone call etc. (dellvoice in canada is free with phone number)
If I join normal voice and data plan are $30-50 /month. and also contract.
Therefore the idea of reasonable camera with the smartphone is a good idea to me. Especially I find this day has a lot of phone app, that I can use the data only plan to make and receive phone call too. This can save me a lot in Cell phone.
But I need to know how good is Samsung Galaxy Camera that is using sensor this size 1/2.3 inch. to compare this to iphone 4s, I guess it should be better, but what can I expect Samsung make camera. Pro and con, or should I wait until they make something like mirrorless DSLR.
on the other hand, from the app point of view, ipad app has ton of free good stuff, is that the same in Android goggle play. Are they stable and also has many good stuff in it?
thanks.

I like your iphone4 photo,
I have the nikon D5100 with the kit lens 18-55 and think about to buy the sigma or Tamron 18-250 lens for travel, after seeing all your shoot, I better off using a good phone to do this. Any tips on this topic?
thanks.

I totally agree on this statement, it is idea, angle, color and meaning of the photo that make the most different on the picture. A lot of people spend thousand of the dollar on gear that make 1 or 2% better, from my usage point of view is no big deal.
If they are the professional then this is something to make the customer happy. But most of the time as the hobby, enjoy the photo time is the most important part.
