I understand how you feel; I do very little editing - always striving to "get it right" in camera. I'd rather spend time with my camera rather than the computer - although I realize that's fun for some. That being said, some times color or contrast just isn't right. Also in the past I did a lot of cropping. Now that I'm selling to a stock company I realize how bad that can be. That and using lesser quality equipment/especially lenses.
No matter how old, you live and learn. Thanks!

Thank you; I've been having that debate with myself. Think I've just been lazy about learning. Your comment is a real encouragement!

For not discovering the power of raw before...

I am a relatively new comer to the raw 'revolution' (2009 - first fray) and when I see the images I created with JPG I... :hunf: :hunf: :hunf:

I could have pull so much more out them in raw!!! :hunf: :hunf: :hunf:

So, who ever is still using JPG (and have a choice that is) give raw a chance to allow you a greater latitude to exploit your own work, you owe it to yourself.

A few years ago I was Activities Director at an Assisted Living facility. One of my projects was to take pictures of the residents - not just every day shots - but more "formal" portraits. I had no idea how much the people would love this idea. I scheduled the time for each person because they wanted hair fixed (women) and best clothes (women and men). This was one of the best things I could have done. I believe we actually made them for them to give to their families for Mother's Day but I was so pleased with the enthusiasm and the outcome of the photos.

While you have a great idea, I don't think I'd mention taking the photos for an obituary (a reality but seems a bit negative) but I think you'll find they'll like the idea - just for any reason. And, of course, Mother's Day and Father's Day are just a few months away. Good luck!

A friend of mine lived in a local independent living facility. After he died, his obituary featured an out-of-focus, enlarged picture someone had snapped of a group he was with one day. The picture was horrible, but all that was available to use with his obituary.
As I thought about this, I wondered if anyone had ever approached the facility and offered to take a decent photograph of as many people living there who wanted it done to use for their obituary? There might be 200 pictures if everyone took me up on it (I doubt that would happen) and would involve my time but the prints would be inexpensive. Having taken the initial photos, turnover is slow and would not require much additional time.
Is this a dumb idea or is it worth pursuing? Has anyone done this? If so, what was your experience?

The concern - you might want to consider - with the full frame 6D is the cost of FF lens. I bought a 6D last year but only have 2 lens and, as a retired person, find it difficult to get some of the other ones I'd like to have. Just a thought.

I will look at the 6D. Had not really considered it because I thought it would cost considerable more than an APS-C camera.

Just an idle question--when and how did the word "gift" become a verb? That usage drives me crazy.

Shortly after "went missing" came on the scene. Talk about driving someone crazy! Whatever happened to the word "disappeared?"

The best I've seen! If you're not a pro you should be.

Gear used? Not that it matters - anyone who can shoot like that can use any equipment!

Thank you for sharing!

You're sure this is "like new" or really good condition, right?

Sorry, but I can't afford both. I believe you originally asked $475 for the 7 D and I was going to offer $450. What about it?

Hello. Is the 10-22 lens still available? It is EF, right?

Thank you.

After my own heart! These are all wonderful. Unlike everyone else, my favorite is #3. You might be able to lighten the barn a little without changing the background, but they are all wonderful. Thank you for sharing. I need to get to Idaho!
