Australian Magpies. Very common in urban areas, and across Australia, they can get very territorial and agressive during the breeding season, regularly swooping, and often inflicting significant wounds and damage, targeting pedestrians, and particularly cyclists, and other birds who get a bit close.
So after shooting their aerial dogfight around the park for some minutes, this is one of the last images just before the bloody death of the reclining magpie. While a carnivorous bird, its just a kill and they don't seem to eat their kills of other magpies.
The protective strategy if they nest near your home or route, is to feed them - I use minced meat. They are intelligent and seem to remember individuals,
