Looking at the gun, it appears to be a musket, or at least a flintlock. This dates it better than the uniform does - many regiments in the British army wear ceremonial uniforms similar to this to this day... I took the attached in 1980, in Cardiff. This was my band, but I was released for this gig to take photos...

I got fed up with replacing keyboards every couple of years, because of the membrane setup not working properly. I invested in a 'proper' keyboard with mechanical keys - like the old electric typewriters. Mine is 'das Keyboard', and has been going strong for about 3 years now. It doesn't light up, which was also an issue with me, but I arranged an led gooseneck lamp to shine when I needed it. There are some which do have lighting, often with choices of colours for specific keys! I didn't see the point, but it is worth looking at if interested.

Several models are sold as 'gamers' keyboards, presumably because gamers are harder on their equipment than most of us, and want the reliability.

I think I paid about $100 for this one, and I have never regretted it for a moment. Much better 'typing' experience than *any* membrane device. You can also get them with different degrees of 'click-ness'...

With the amount of typing you do just on UHH, you would really get the benefit from one of these!

Based on what you are describing, I think your browser is automatically clearing cookies. Either because of incognito mode or because of privacy settings. So every time you return, the forum has no way of knowing you are you. And so you see the default sections for guest visitors until you explicitly log in.

I am not sure what was going on. I had never had to log in before, then it all changed. I was having similar issues with youtube, where it made me log in before adding a comment, or even hitting 'like' to a video. Something definitely changed. I don't *think* that windows had been upgraded, although it isn't always obvious with win10. I cleared my browsing history - actually couldn't find the option to clear cookies, but I figured that it would be included. Rebooted the PC - something I rarely do - and behaviour was back to normal, both here and with youtube. I do get the messages listed in a different way to before, but I get my subscribed sections and it doesn't force me to login.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

Kind of a pain, as you may have to re-enter passwords and user names for all of your web page visits, but if you start your browser up, then go to tools, and then Privacy/Security. Delete your cookies, and clear your history. Next time you log in, it should either ask you if you want to remember the password/user name, or just automatically remember it. Hopefully that fixes your problem, but no guarantees! Good luck!

This seems to have done the trick... Don't know what in my web history would have that effect, but something was. Just cleared that, rebooted, and Robert is your father's brother! Passwords aren't a problem, as I use Roboform to store and apply those.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I don't know what is going on, but things seem to be all screwed up here... My digest doesn't contain most of the sections I subscribe to, but does contain a bunch (like the gallery) which I don't want. I checked my profile, and that is all as it was before. The site is making me log in every time I want to reply to a message, which I never had to before... I can't access the digest online once logged in...

Anyone know what is up?

I have done quite a few videos with my Canon DSLRs (see my profile below). They all have a limit on time/file size, which they need to avoid paying more duty on import as a 'video camera'. However, the limit is much more than you are getting... It's been a while, but if I remember right the time limit is 20 minutes, after which it shuts off. They also have a size limit of (I think) 4GB, but if they are not at the time limit, they will close the current file and immediately continue shooting to a new file.

I admit the details are a bit fuzzy, as it has been a year or two, but the limit is way above what you are getting. I assume that there is some menu setting causing the issue, but I cannot make a suggestion as to what it is...

I normally shoot 640x480, but this is more to keep the final output to a reasonable size that for any recording purpose. I shoot multi-camera events in church, and need to keep the final edit small enough to distribute.

In English (and American) grammar books it defines twelve tenses.
However, there is a thirteenth that you must all be aware of, it's called the 'future indefinite'.

Very simple to demonstrate.

Darling, how much longer will you be?
Five minutes. <- here
You said that ten minutes ago!

The Welsh also have a 'magic future' tense... Where most of us would say "I'll be there in a minute...", The Welsh say "I'll be there now..."!

Well, it works for me on my Dell Precision M4800 64 bit system, and my wifes HP 64bit laptop.
On our computers, we get a message (on restart) that Windows is closing all programs. Then the option to continue, or not.
The only way Im aware of, that those programs can open on start up, is if you have them loaded in your start up menu.
That would do it.

I don't have any browsers in my start up. Even if I *had*, though, I have never known any version of windows open a browser with tabs remembered from before a shut-down. This one has done it since new...

Just a suggestion for the future.
If you have a problem with 'anything' not working properly, a usual final suggestion is to shutdown ones computer and restart it.
This may not help with the latest version of Windows 10 as to assist a faster startup, Windows saves a lot of the settings when you use the 'shutdown' option.
I read somewhere, the best option now is to do a 'Restart'.
The 'Restart' option doesnt save anything so you get a clean start up.
Cheers

Actually, I am not sure that this is correct. Whenever (and *however*) I restart my PC, it comes up with IE open, and reopens all the windows which were there before shutting down. The annoying thing is that it will restart any youtube videos in all those windows... This always happen if I do a restart, but we had thunder rolling through as I was getting ready for bed, so the machine was shut down and left off overnight. Switched it on this morning and headed to the bathroom, then came back out to a cacophony of voices from the system!

The only time I can remember it *not* doing this, is when the restart includes installing updates, I think. Given that windows is storing at least this amount of info during its off/on cycle, I am not sure just *how* you can be sure to get a clean start... Oh, this is w10 pro 64-bit, for reference.

Perhaps, but I have to admit it was my first thought too! I wouldn't have actually posted it, but it did seem a little strange. I understand the possible reasoning suggested by some of the other posts, but on the face of it, it *did* seem like a strange situation.

I had a friend one time who was raving about some 'designer' shoes that she had found at an outlet for a steal of a price. Then, right at the end, she said "It's a shame that they are 3 sizes too small for me..."

The answer is in the video title - it's a flight simulator video, not a real aircraft!
