I bought that very same lens expressly to use with the Nikon ES-1 Slide Copying Adapter. Great results copying mounted slides!
Chateau Frontenac is a must-see. Stayed there in November two years ago and got great shots of the copper-clad rooftops. Lots of interesting architectural angles to explore. Some of my shots look like they were taken in a Harry Potter set. The Quebecois were wonderfully friendly everywhere and my limited two years of high school French was not at all necessary (but my few attempts were smilingly appreciated). There's a photo op everywhere you look walking through the Old City. Take the LONG stairway from the Chateau down to the riverwalk and enjoy the food everywhere. After visiting you'll want to return.
