Photo I took the other day in woodland, on a wildlife preserve shows a white translucent streak from the right edge into pine tree. It doesn't look like powerline and it's to long to be the path a bird flew (Exposure 1/320 at F14 ISO 1000, 150mm ,Sigma 150-600 Sony 7AR4)

The streak doesn't appear on any other pictures. The exposure is 61mb.

Any ideas where this came from or what I can do to disappear it.
Thanks.

I can't blame you for the expensive Canon inks. Three years ago I started using an ink I get from Amazon called Odoga Ink. They keep lowering the price, now it's just $18 for 8 pack.

Now, I use the Pro-100 to analyze my photos, make sure they look good on paper, and sometimes I frame them for my own use. If I've I'm preparing a print for a customer, the Pro-100 isn't going to cut it. Nothing beats a good color lab for great prints . . . but that's another subject. 13x19" is just a bit too small for those special prints that look so good at 18x24.

An old pillow case, a few styrofoam packing worms, and the perfect solution. It sits behind the the drivers seat and holds the camera perfectly.

Thanks.

Great ideas, but it seems like there is need for a product that isn't out there yet.

On more days than not, I jump in the car with my camera and 150-600mm lens and take a similar tour around my town. I stop at a salt panne, drive a mile to a path I walk through a marsh, then over to a seaside cliff and walk a beach. Back in the car, to a local park fed by a brackish creek, then over to a yacht club for a nesting eagle.
That's 10 short trips in and out of the car.

Where can I safely and quickly put my camera with the lens attached that will keep it reasonably save while a travel from stop to stop?

I use styrofoam form from packing box, that keeps it from rolling, but doesn't really provide enough support over the length of the lens. I thought about a box of dried beans, but that would be full of dust. Perhaps a box of washed pebbles would provide a base.

Yes, it it's not a quick stop, I keep a oversized backpack/camera back in the trunk, but's unlikely to get in there for a 2 minute dirve.

Anyone have have a gadget that will hold the camera and lens in the car?

BIF are only a portion of birding photos. Having done it for 4 years, I find they tend to look somewhat alike. If you want a photo that tells a story, You're probably catching the bird catching a meal, or on the nest or interacting with other birds. A great BIF is thrill, but to tell a story, it might just take a longer exposure.

I just watched a couple of videos created by Wimberly regarding their products.
Question.
As one points the camera up and down the camera moves quite a bit.
How does one cope with crouching and standing on tip toes with a gimbal head?
Just observing it seems like a PITA.
I have not purchased one and not used one.
But just observing the video that was the first thing I thought of was crouching and standing as a moving subject that moves vertically vs just horizontally.
How do those who do BIF or other vertically moving subjects cope or is it considered aerobics while shooting?
In other words how do you do it comfortably if that is possible?
Thank you in advance.
I just watched a couple of videos created by Wimbe... (show quote)

If the subject can be captured at 1/2000th, F5.6 I'll handhold, but if I want to go to F14 in most lights, I'll use the gimble. My flip down screen is useful for the elevated shot and the EVF for a level shot. No Problem just adapt to the light.

Thanks. Very helpful. You seem to very colormetric understanding of the problem. Using a copied layer, I brightened it too far, then used opacity to blend the two. It worked out nicely.

I've got nice Super moon photo that I want to print. Taken in the blue hour.

When I print it the sky turns darker and looks like it's past blue hour, if I boost the exposure, the sky turns green.

Any suggestions that can help me get the right color - so it looks like it does on my calibrated monitor? You can see the image at:

I found, what I hope will be the best solution. - a machined lens collar, arca compatible $60 solution shipped from across the Pacific.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HT9R2HP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Downside - 3 weeks delivery.

I like it. The collar is easily removable, providing protection from the lens. I haven't done a drill and tap since metal shop circa 1962. Sounds like fun.

No arca groove, so the arca solution is a mount plate - and the has one screw hole on the foot. So with only point to fasten it, it spins.
