Yes it is. Such simplistic thinking, if you want to call it thinking.

Odds are pretty good. Unless Israel nukes Iran first.

The other possibility is that Iran will simply terrorize the Middle East and much of the rest of the world.

I agree with your assessment. Also, it will likely cause Saudi Arabia to obtain nuclear weapons as well.

Why would I gag at what was said? I am not agreeing Melissa Harris-Perry word for word...but generally the distortions of the presidents name are code words for nigger. Yes, wow I put the "N-Word" on the page. This is a foolish thing like in Monty Python "Life of Bryan" where one could not say the word Yahweh aloud or one would be stoned.

One can, as the article did argue that words like “Reaganomics” were used and thus neutralize negative connotations of "Obamacare". As I recall “Reaganomics” was a "positive word". So much of what is said is not conveyed by writing, since tonality and melody of the spoken voice conveys a lot. Regarding Obamacare it is generally a negative tonality.

The racism I experience moving to Charlotte North Carolina in the mid sixty's is still alive in many places not just in the south. Predigest dies slowly, and with the election of a mulatto like Obama, it is even worse than a white or black president. It is a violation of miscegenation laws and "racial purity".... what next a homosexual president!! Yep, may happen so relax and learn to live with it... not all that bad.

Bob Dylan expressed it well with the song "Times are a changin".... People stand in the door way resisting the change and "want their country back" .... code for look at all these black and Hispanics. Blacks and Hispanics will be greater than 50% of the population and add to that women who "should never have gotten the vote" well there are many in desperation. The far right (religious choice right hand of the lord others will be left at judgement) wants to go back to some comfort zone and fears the changes that are and must be achieved for the prospering and continuance of our country. Example ACA, which most civilized countries already have.

Personally, I do not like his ears, they are missing a fold of cartilage and thus are not mechanically stable and will be hard to sculpt without breaking easily. But I have learned to relax about that... can the rest learn to live with a very caring very intelligent President even tho he has funny ears and is of mixed race and national heritage?

MisterWilson, can you elaborate on your comment? You say makes one gag.. do you mean many or yourself and what specifically do you find so revolting.. try to be more specific so that I can better understand your feelings. Indeed I will defend your right to free speech and will try to understand and "feel your pain" as I did the feelings of a cab driver in 1965 when I first visited in Charlotte before taking a job there. And as I did when using the wrong bathroom... I did not realize that that black male silhouette was for black men... ooops "sir, the white gentleman's bathroom is further down the hall."
Why would I gag at what was said? I am not agreein... (show quote)

You seem to be stuck in the past.

women who "should never have gotten the vote"

Really??? You seem to get carried away constructing an over the top negative image of your imagined political opponents.

Who has actually said "women should never have gotten the vote" in the last generation, or two, or three? Have any examples? If they didn't say it did, are you a psychic?

To you have a ballpark estimate of how many people with that attitude exist?

Every time you post something like this, I wonder what happened in the past that has filled you with this bitterness. I know you have encountered the ugly shameful racism that was prevalent in the south for most of this country's existence but doesn't explain your carefully constructed villain stereotype. I won't be rude to speculate in detail.

Now seriously, you don't wonder how she kept a straight face through that speech?

By the way, most if this "codeword" stuff is just made up conspiracy theory crap.

Obviously, the only racially sensitive thing we can do is to repeal O-word aka the ACA aka the Affordable Care Act. After all, the new O-new is unacceptable and everybody knows that the ACA is a code word for the O-word and we can't have that.

By the way, what skill and discipline it must have taken to make that speech without cracking up laughing.

It's hard to evaluate everything, but I'm just tired of being fed half truths by so many different so called trusted sources. What's tough is I can't come up with much of a list of totally "good guys" anymore. You disseminate what sells or what certain audiences want to hear. If it has a ring of truth or is repeated enough, than it must be true. Even the rogue sources get a following, so they must be a good source too, huh?

Sad but true.

Right-On DavidO......Google "washington times out look on obama" and read the titles. This is far right info on a Scott's soft tissue roll.

On Wicapedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Washington_Times you will find a through rundown on this far-right printed sheet:
In 2002, at an event held to celebrate the Times' 20th anniversary, Moon said: "The Washington Times is responsible to let the American people know about God" and "The Washington Times will become the instrument in spreading the truth about God to the world."

Defending Dixie: "The Washington Times has always been conservative and error-prone -- now it's helping to popularize extremist ideas" comments by Heidi Beirich and Bob Moser, Intelligence Report, Southern Poverty Law Center, undated.

Why bother with this garbage when you would be better off and healthier if you watched some other type of porn.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is also error prone. A liberal friend of mine had to issue a retraction after relying on the SPLC for his facts. He is an honest man, unlike the SPLC. They are just like any other special interest group. They need to be fact checked as any group with an agenda will spin or lie to serve their cause.

Wow, time for a Crusade aaaaha, that what GW Bush said the war on Iraq was intended to be!! Before we do that let GW convert all those heathen Jews to Christianity:

But first let us ready the Nukes to bomb Iran:
"GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson made headlines back in October when he said that the U.S. should detonate a nuclear weapon in the Iranian desert to send Tehran a message. But Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) took this line of thinking a step further on C-Span’s Washington Journal Wednesday morning when he suggested that Iran’s nuclear facilities should be the target. "

I find the far right wing so righteous: they will indeed sit on the right hand of God, the far right hand.

The sooner we destroy the world in a great atomic holocaust (which never happened) the sooner Jesus will come again to a 5 star resort near you.... Surly he donates heavely to the Republican party... they are gushing with the spirit of Christs teaching about brotherhood.

Guys get real, get with a forward program and stop picking one word, sentence or comment out of context. In the mean time enjoy your self torment and self reinforcement of hate. I will admit the man has funny ears but otherwise he is quite intelligent.

Oh yes, stock market has doubled, gasoline last week was lowest in a long time, all in all we are recovering from the Bush years. Now if the Republican Congress would only vote instead of having a one-man road block our country could be great again.... what humbugs you anti-every thing guys are... Boring

By the way, what is your forward program???
Wow, time for a Crusade aaaaha, that what GW Bush ... (show quote)

What are the odds that Iran will eventually nuke Israel? Most of its leadership are nutcases.

Oh and how is all this related to the OP ???

We don't have to go back generations, the Balkans are not that far removed. As far as body count is concerned, I think Muslims are killing way more Muslims than they are killing Christians if you look at what's going on in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan. It is true Islam seems to be going thru a very bellicose period, but it is more at war with itself than with Christianity. You will find also that a lot of these (Not all) are rather political gains than true ideology.
It's easy to see what we want to see sometimes.

I agree with much of what you say. Particularly the point about religion being exploited for political gains.

You have somewhat of a point about the Balkans. Usually those arguing for a moral equivalence go back a few centuries. The question is who are "we" in the Balkan wars? Unless I am mistaken, we (the US) sided with the Muslims against the Serbs. We also took in Muslim refugees, two of whom repaid us by attacking one of our Military bases.

I agree that Muslim's are suffering the most from the violence of other Muslims. To me, victims are victims. I don't think of the Muslims being at war with just Christians but the West, and pretty much everybody, including other Muslims.

Is that any different from what Christians have done to the Jews and the Muslims? Or what Europe has done to the Non Europeans through out the world? The sooner we admit that we all have blood on our hands the better.

We all "have blood on our hands" if we go back enough generations but what about the current generation? Where is the threat today? Who currently has the highest body count?

By the way, here is the quote from my prior post properly attributed.

A sad day for South Africa. Nelson Mandella died today at the age of 95. He was a man who was able to overcome the horrors of apartheid and bridge the gap between black and white. He was truly a great man and it is indeed unfortunate that many of the leaders in other African countries, particularly in Zimbabwe, couldn't follow his example.
Just my thoughts as a former (4th generation) South African and now a US citizen since 1966.

I remember an expression "barking up the wrong tree". Easy to do if the dog barks up every tree. The word racism is meaningless coming from some people.

Perhaps someone of your awesome intellect could enlighten the rest of us with specific details as to why or how it is "complete BS". Now that you have set the bar with the distinction between "analogy" and "allegory", we will hold you to the same standard regarding "complete".
